The Boyzone singer Stephen Gately, 33, was found dead in October while on holiday with his partner in Majorca. Boyzone announced their comeback tour last November. The Irish band had six UK number one hits from 1994 to 2000.

Gately played Joseph on tour and in the West End in 2002 and 2003. He then took the role of the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium in 2004 and 2005. He also starred in pantomime and other regional productions.

Boyzone and Westlife performed the number one single "No Matter What", originally seen in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman's WHISTLE DOWN THE WIND at a tribute concert to Gately.

Based on the novel by Mary Hayley Bell and subsequent Richard Attenborough-produced film, Whistle Down the Wind follows the fortunes of a fugitive caught between the prejudice of adults and the innocence of the young. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman, together with Patricia Knop and Gale Edwards (co-book writers with Andrew Lloyd Webber) reset the original story in Louisiana in 1959.
