Eva Laporte directs the regional premiere of Rebecca Gilman's Dollhouse, a 2004 Goodman-commission adapted from Ibsen's A Doll's House. Set at the cusp of the economic downturn of the past decade, Gilman's Dollhouse explores the economy of a relationship in America. The play is particularly poignant in the after-math of the mortgage crisis and the continuing economic struggles in America.

Fans of the Disney film 'Hocus Pocus' starring Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker as the Sanderson sisters, wicked witches brought back to life on Halloween to steal the souls of children, are gathering online as a grassroots movement to bring it to Broadway. Following the success of musicals such as NEWSIES, MARY POPPINS, SISTER ACT and MATILDA; Winnie, Mary and Sarah are ready to enchant Broadway audiences.

Guild Hall, the visual and performing arts center on eastern Long Island, recently honored the recipients of the 28th Academy of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Awards: John Alexander for Visual Arts; Walter Isaacson for Literary Arts; Nathan Lane for Performing Arts and Mickey Straus, who received the Special Award for Leadership and Philanthropy. Marshall Brickman was the Master of Ceremonies with special guest presenters: Ken Auletta, Alec Baldwin, Jack O'Brien and Lorne Michaels. The Pulitzer Prize and OBIE Award-winning Theatre for the New City (TNC) held its 10th Annual LOVE 'N' COURAGE benefit gala last night, February 25, 2013 at the National Arts Club (15 Gramercy Park South in Manhattan), this year honoring award-winning actor and playwright Charles Busch. Hosts for LOVE 'N' COURAGE were composer and singer Phoebe Legere and playwright/filmmaker Matt Morillo ('Maid of Honor'). The performers at this year's show included Mr. Busch, The Love Show, dancer/choreographer Kitty Lunn and Infinity Dance, juggler supreme John Grimaldi, Carol Freeman, Luba Mason, KT Sullivan, Tammy Grimes, Drew Pulver, Mark Marcante and Crystal Field.

The New School for Drama Introduces BFA in Dramatic Arts

-The New School for Drama has announced a new Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dramatic Arts, which will launch in fall 2013. Drawing on The New School's tradition of progressive artistic inquiry and civic engagement, the BFA is a pre-professional degree that emphasizes collaborative studio work and hands-on experience with working theater artists in New York City. Led by playwright and Artistic Director Jon Robin Baitz (Other Desert Cities), the BFA is guided by an Advisory Board the includes include Sarah Jessica Parker, director Doug Hughes, playwright John Guare, and 24 Hour Plays creator Tina Fallon. The Advisory Board will provide artistic, professional and fundraising support to the program.
