The wildly popular, modern-day burlesque BROADWAY BARES heads back to Fire Island on June 1, 2013, for a one-night-only edition of BROADWAY BARES FIRE ISLAND: CALENDAR GIRL. Five months…  FIVE MONTHS after their previous musical comedy, Jumbo, opened at the Hippodrome, the trio of Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart and George Abbott had a brand new one at the Imperial.  But far from seeming a rush job, their 1936 On Your Toes can easily be argued to be a huge step forward in refining musical comedy into a sophisticated art form.

Acclaimed Tony Award winning Director/Choreographer Jerry Mitchell, whose musical Kinky Boots just received 13 Tony Award-nominations, will be honored with the 2013 'Mr. Abbott' Award for his outstanding artistry and creativity and breadth of his thirty-year career.

The Drama League has announced Emmy Award winner Debra Messing will join Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce as co-host of the 79th Annual Drama League Awards. One of the high points of the theater season, the Awards Luncheon will be held Friday afternoon, May 17th at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway) at noon.

Nominees have been announced for the 31st Annual Fred & Adele Astaire Awards taking place on Monday, June 3 at 7:30pm at New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Benefitting greatly from the original Broadway choreography of Tony Winner Jerry Mitchell (KINKY BOOTS, HAIRSPRAY), LEGALLY BLONDE: THE MUSICAL makes its regional professional premiere when it opens on Friday, July 19th, 2013, and plays until Sunday, July 28th, at the 1,800-seat Kavli Theatre at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, located at 2100 Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Thousand Oaks.

In light of KINKY BOOTS' 13 Tony nominations and the show's upcoming cast album release, it's only fitting that the musical's producers are looking beyond Broadway. According to the Daily Mail, Kinky Boots is eyeing the West End, though when the show will transfer across the pond is far from set.
