Long Island certainly has some brilliant holiday productions this season. Currently running through December 29th, Oakdale's Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC) has mounted a delightful showing of the musical version of A Christmas Carol; the one Madison Square Garden has produced. With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and book by Ms. Ahrens with Mike Ockrent, the wonderful cast surely didn't disappoint.

BWW Review: THE ADDAMS FAMILY at CMPAC

Kicking off their 37th season, The Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center has mounted a terrific production of the Tony nominated musical Bonnie & Clyde. With a book by Ivan Menchell, this is a 'biographical' story of the two most notorious gangsters. Many themes are touched upon in this story - despite their violent, criminal shenanigans - including true love, the solidarity of family, and unwavering loyalty. Running through September 27th at the Oakdale, Long Island, venue, the show is truly top notch.

For the first time in two decades, The Kitchen will present a new edition of the acclaimed performance series And That's How the Rent Gets Paid, written by downtown legends Jeff Weiss and Richard C. Martinez. For three nights only (tonight, July 14, through July 16), Weiss and Martinez's thrilling serial drama, which follows a charming serial killer through the queer underbelly of New York City, will be brought to life by director and producer Brooke O'Harra with Kate Valk and Nicky Paraiso. The three-day marathon performance features an eclectic group of 50 performers including David Cale, Jennifer Miller, Keith McDermott, Becca Blackwell, Jess Barbagallo, Moe Angelos and Mark Bennett, among others. Weiss will appear in the production, in various cameo performances, throughout the three-day run.

While it is true that the musical Jesus Christ Superstar is done consistently among the regional and community theatre scene, we should take the opportunity to see classics like this whenever we can. The superb incarnation currently running through April 26th at Oakdale's Noel S. Ruiz Theatre at CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC), is a great chance to see it again or see it for the first time.

The Bessies, formally known as the New York Dance and Performance Awards, celebrated its 30th anniversary at the Apollo Theater on Monday, October 20th. It was an exciting evening that commemorated the diverse world of dance and those who tirelessly contribute to a field that makes this city come alive.

The Bessies, produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, were held at the legendary Apollo Theater at 7:30 p.m., following red carpet interviews and photographs with the nominees in attendance. NEW YORK, September 30, 2014 - The New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies), NYC's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, announced today the host of the anniversary ceremony that is to be held at the legendary Apollo Theater. Broadway playwright, actress and 1993 Bessie awardee Lisa Kron will host the 30th Annual Bessie Awards. Surrealist Burlesque returns to the Coney Island USA Sideshow by the Seashore stage with its 6th incarnation of what has been hailed by the press as "Striptease meets Socrates" (Brooklyn Paper). This years' Surrealist Burlesque presents Flaming Creatures, a tribute to Jack Smith's ground-breaking work that pioneered experimental film-making and representations of gender fluidity in the early 1960s. Considered by many to be a founding father of performance art and an innovator of underground film, Jack Smith's film was officially deemed "obscene" by a New York Criminal Court. Flaming Creatures at Coney Island USA features stars of the art world and burlesque stage who have created acts in the spirit of Smith's queer, Utopic landscape. Starring Carmelita Tropicana, Dirty Martini, Dr. Lucky, Jennifer Miller, Jason Mejias, Julie Atlas Muz, and Poison Eve. With production numbers featuring the Dali Dancers.
