Bluegrass Grammy nominee Claire Lynch will be touring Western Canada with her 'North' band, comprised of three of Canada's finest bluegrass musicians! The band are: Joe Phillips (upright bass, backing vocals), Shane Cook (fiddle), and, Darrin Schott (mandolin, acoustic guitars, backing vocals).

Novo Amor has unveiled the official video for his new single 'Utican', which premiered earlier today on The FADER. The track is the latest to be taken from his forthcoming debut album Birthplace, to be released on October 19 via AllPoints. Much like the video for the album's title track - which seeks to address the monolithic problem of plastic in our oceans - and was awarded Independent Video of the Year at the AIM Awards earlier this week - the storyline for the 'Utican' video also centers on a topical and emotional issue, befitting of the cinematic nature of Novo Amor's music.

This week, Jean-Michel Blais' acclaimed album, Dans ma main, was short-listed for the prestigious Polaris Music Prize. In this concert presentation, countertenor Iestyn Davies performs the title role joined by sopranos Jane Archibald (Armida) and Joélle Harvey (Almirena), bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni (Argante), mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke (Goffredo), and countertenors Jakub Józef Orli?ski, (Eustazio), and James Hall (A Christian Magician).

After thirty years of playing on stages all over the world from Dublin to New York, Tokyo to Sydney, the premier traditional Irish band, Altan came back to the hills of Donegal to record their new album, THE GAP OF DREAMS. The 13 tracks transport the listener to the lifestyle of rural Donegal, to a time before electricity when folks would gather together in the mists of winter to tell stories, sing songs and dance into the wee hours of the night. The music lifted the locals' spirits and helped elevate them beyond the hardships of the day like famine, conflict, and emigration. It is this spirit that informed the development of the band through their many phases of growth from a duo performing in pubs to international touring and recording artists.
