Young opera soprano Golda Berkman of Los Angeles will be guest artist at Coachella Valley Symphony's 'Opera to Broadway - A Musical Spectacular' on Sunday, March 5. Now in its 24th year, the Coachella Valley Symphony has named the 2016-2017 season 'It's Magic' with Maestro John Mario conducting each concert. Golda made her professional opera debut at just 17 last November performing the role of Lauretta in Redlands Opera Theatre's production of Puccini's comedy, Gianni Schicchi.

General Director Plácido Domingo announced complete casting details for LA Opera's upcoming presentation of Richard Strauss's Salome, to be conducted by Music Director James Conlon. A revival of the production originally staged by Sir Peter Hall during the company's inaugural season, Salome will star soprano Patricia Racette in the title role, her fifth leading role in Los Angeles. Performances will take place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (135 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles CA 90012) from February 18 through March 19.

General Director Placido Domingo announced today that James Conlon has renewed his contract as the company's Richard Seaver Music Director through the end of the 2020/21 season. Currently celebrating his tenth anniversary with the company, Mr. Conlon has conducted 314 performances to date for LA Opera. When he returns to the podium of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on January 28 to conduct The Abduction from the Seraglio, he will have conducted 50 different operas at LA Opera.

Christopher Walker Elected to L.A. Opera Board of Directors
