Tchaikovsky's soulful Symphony No. 4 portrays his battle against fate, the cold-hearted power he believed ruled his life. Guest pianist Haochen Zhang, co-winner of the Gold Medal at the 2009 Van Cliburn Competition, will expertly undertake the consummate challenges of the Prokofiev piano concerto, and Maestro Milanov will bring to vivid life the heartless seducer of Strauss' tone poem Don Juan.
Harlem Quartet to Make VPAC Debut, 11/5

The HARLEM QUARTET, praised for its "panache" by The New York Times, is "bringing a new attitude to classical music, one that is fresh, bracing and intelligent," says the Cincinnati Enquirer. This unique Salon experience will be found on the VPAC stage November 5 as the ensemble invites 200 audience members to join them onstage for a rare, intimate performance of their classical and jazz program. Ticket-holders will also have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive meet and greet with the artists, following the performance.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – ASO Concertmaster, Netanel Draiblate will perform Antonín Dvo?ák's Concerto for Violin in the next set of Lexus Classic Series concerts with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 8pm. Music Director José-Luis Novo will also conduct the orchestra in the Petite Suite originally composed by Claude Debussy and orchestrated by Henri Büsser, and Symphony No. 3 by Johannes Brahms.
Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players to Perform at City Winery, 10/25

Following the success of its first series at City Winery in the 2014-15 season, cp2 (Chicago Philharmonic Chamber Players) returns to the venue for a fall series pairing unique mixed instrumental groups with vocalists. Three one-hour programs at noon on October 25, November 22, and December 20 each feature a different singer showcasing styles including classical, soul, and jazz. Brunch will be available for purchase before and during the performances, and patrons are encouraged to dress casually.

Carnegie Hall presents Orchestra of St. Luke's in five concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage this season, starting on Thursday, October 29 at 8:00 p.m. with Principal Conductor Pablo Heras-Casado leading a program that includes Stravinsky's Suite No. 2; and Tchaikovsky's rarely heard Symphony No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 13, "Winter Daydreams." Also on the program is Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor, Op. 64 with soloist Christian Tetzlaff.

Lincoln Center announces an artist update for this weekend's closing Mostly Mozart Festival program this weekend, August 21 and 22. John Relyea will replace Brindley Sherratt (who was to make his Festival debut, and has to cancel for personal reasons) in singing the bass part of Haydn's The Creation with the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra at Avery Fisher Hall.
