MasterVoices to Present New York Premiere of 27 at New York City Center

MasterVoices (formerly The Collegiate Chorale) will celebrate its 75th anniversary during the 2016-2017 season, beginning with the New York premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon and Royce Vavrek's 27, specially adapted for MasterVoices, on October 20 and 21, 2016 at 8pm at New York City Center, 131 W. 55th Street, New York City.

Oakland Symphony to Feature Broadway's Kelly Hall-Tompkins in Violin Concerto and More, 11/18

The Oakland Symphony, Michael Morgan Music Director and conductor, will be joined by guest violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins—currently on Broadway as the Fiddler in Fiddler on the Roof-- and members of its acclaimed Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra for Lost Romantic Symphonies Friday, November 18, at 8 pm at the Paramount Theatre. The concert will feature Hall-Tompkins performing the U.S. premiere of Siegfried Matthus' new violin concerto, Dream of a Summer Night, along with John Williams' Theme from Schindler's List and Fiddler on the Roof. The program also includes Joachim Raff's rarely performedSymphony No. 3, and the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra, back from its Cuban Tour, will join the Symphony for Gershwin's Cuban Overture. The concert will be preceded by a talk by John Kendall-Bailey at 7 pm that is free to ticket holders and the entire evening is sponsored by The Grubb Company. Orion Salutes Its Roots with November Concerts

Fascinating Lineup of CSO's Last Notes Festival to Include Final Works of Tchaikovsky and Mozart

In the first of four festivals in the CSO's 2016-17 season, Music Director Rossen Milanov will lead the CSO in the Last Notes Festival, showcasing the majestic, final works of Tchaikovsky and Mozart. Enhanced by educational and interactive offerings in the week prior to the concerts, the Last Notes Festival will include Tchaikovsky's haunting and turbulent Sixth Symphony, his final completed symphony that struggles between hope and despair, and the mercurial overture to Mozart's last opera, Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute). Additionally, the CSO, guest violinist Anthony Marwood, and renowned American composer and electric guitar maestro Steve Mackey will perform Four Iconoclastic Episodes, a captivating work composed by Mackey as a double concerto for violin and electric guitar.

Columbus Symphony Orchestra Announces Line-Up for Happy Hour Concert 11/17

The CSO's Happy Hour concerts offer free, informal, after-work concerts performed preceded by complimentary appetizers, a DJ in the theatre lobby, and a cash bar. Led by CSO Music Director Rossen Milanov, Eclectic Mix, the first Happy Hour concert of the 2016-17 season, will feature violinist Anthony Marwood and electric guitarist Steve Mackey who will be guest performers in the CSO's Last Notes Festival the following weekend. The Happy Hour program will include Copland's “Hoe Down” from Rodeo, the third movement from Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, and Mackey's Double Concerto for Violin and Electric Guitar from his own composition, Four Iconoclastic Episodes.

Orchestra of St. Luke's Kicks Off Three-Concert Series at Carnegie Hall on October 13

Carnegie Hall presents Orchestra of St. Luke's in three concerts this season in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, beginning on Thursday, October 13 at 8:00 p.m. The series kicks off with the orchestra's long-time friend and collaborator David Robertson leading a program that includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in A Major, Op. 92; and selections from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn featuring celebrated baritone Thomas Hampson. Also on the program is Brett Dean's Testament, a moving tribute to Beethoven's life and music inspired by his 1802 "Heiligenstadt Testament," the autobiographical manifesto in which the composer came to terms with the loss of his hearing early in his career.

On Tuesday, October 25 at 8:00PM at Alice Tully Hall, The American Classical Orchestra, comprised of some of the world's leading period violinists, will present Vivaldi's Four Seasons. Violinists Judson Griffin, Lisa Rautenberg, Cynthia Roberts and Jorg-Michael Schwarz will perform on 1610 and 1615 Giovanni Maginni and 1668 and 1671 Jacob Stainer masterpiece violins. Also featured on the program are Handel's Concerto Grosso Opus 3, No. 2, Geminiani's "La Follia' Concerto and Albicastro's Concerto a Quattro Opus 7 excerpts. This concert will be conducted by Thomas Crawford.  Maestro Thomas Crawford will present a Pre-Concert Lecture at 7:00PM on October 25.

On Today, September 22, 2016 at 8:00PM at Alice Tully Hall, the American Classical Orchestra, a 50-piece period instrument orchestra, presents its opening night concert of its 32nd Season. The program will include Mendelssohn's 'Scottish' Symphony, Berlioz's Les nuits d'ete, and Cipriani Potter's Symphony No. 10. In Mendelssohn's stormy Scottish Symphony, period instruments enliven the thrilling orchestration and memorable tunes for which the composer is so beloved. In Berlioz's evocative Les nuits d'ete, the ACO proudly introduces the extraordinary young American mezzo-soprano Avery Amereau. A rarely heard Symphony No. 10 by British composer Cipriani Potter completes a concert that takes the audience back into the luxurious sonorities of the Romantic Era.
