Stark Sands Exits Broadway's KINKY BOOTS Today

Original KINKY BOOTS cast member and two-time Tony nominee Stark Sands gives his final performance in the Cyndi Lauper, Harvey Fierstein, and Jerry Mitchell's Broadway hit, today, Jan. 26. Sands will be suceeded by Andy Kelso as 'Charlie Price' on Jan. 28.

Prescott Center for the Arts presents Disney's 101 Dalmations. The music and lyrics are wirtten by Mel Leven, Randy Rogel, Richard Gibbs, Brian Smith, Martin Lee Fuller, and Dan Root. The book was adapted by Marcy Heisler and the music was arranged by Bryan Louiselle. The musical will directed by Debra White.

Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig have announced new leads for their smash hit musical Kinky Boots; Andy Kelso, who currently plays 'Harry', will take over the role of 'Charlie Price' on January 28, 2014 following Stark Sands' January 26 departure. Jeanna de Waal will join the cast as 'Lauren,' beginning March 4, 2014 (replacing Annaleigh Ashford, who leaves to join the cast of Showtime's 'Masters of Sex'), and Jake Odmark joins the ensemble in the roles previously played by Andy Kelso. As previously announced, Billy Porter, this year's Tony Award-winner for Best Actor in a Musical, will remain with Kinky Boots.

What kind of celebration would it be without the happiest show on Broadway? And that's why Kinky Boots, this year's Tony Award-winning Best Musical, has joined the line-up of performances at this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, it was announced today. The cast will perform Kinky Boots' glittering finale, 'Raise You Up' / 'Just Be' for the 87th Annual Parade, which will be broadcast live on NBC on Thursday, November 28 from 9 AM - noon EST (check local listings).

Quick Curtains, a collection of five one-act plays by Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams, William Inge and PercivAl Wilde will perform tonight, November 13th through 17th at the Hudson Guild Theater. Quick Curtains closes out the ten year anniversary season for The Group Theatre Too (Michael Blevins, Artistic Director; Justin Boccitto, Executive Producer). Five directors have been chosen for every one-act, each casting and rehearsing five groups of actors.

At First Sight (and Other Stories) is a 90-minute compilation of some of their most celebrated works mixed with vignettes created especially for this production - written, directed, and featuring the company of BKBX- each piece designed to take the audience on a journey from epic fantasy adventure to the intimate and very real moments of everyday life. Weaving comedy and drama through the show's fabric, At First Sight (and Other Stories) will entertain as well as enlighten. Capitalized at $13.5 million, Kinky Boots achieved this milestone faster than any big budget musical in recent history. With a Tony Award-winning score by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, a book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell, the smash hit musical plays to standing-room-only crowds nightly and continues to shatter box office records at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street), where it started previews on March 4 and officially opened on April 4, 2013.

The Metrolina Theatre Association (MTA) has announced award nominees for the 2012-2013 Season. Piedmont Players Theatre (PPT) lead all theatre groups in the North Region with 22 nominations. PPT's Productions of 'SPAMALOT' and 'THE COLOR PURPLE' were each nominated for Outstanding Production, Outstanding Direction, Outstanding Choreography, Outstanding Set Design and Outstanding Musical Direction (See below for a complete list of PPT nominees).
