Producers ARS Productions and Adriel Saporta have announced that Christopher Michael McFarland replaces previously announced John Ellison Conlee in the NYC premiere of SPACEBAR: A BROADWAY PLAY BY KYLE SUGARMAN, written by Michael Mitnick and directed by Maggie Burrows. Mr. Conlee had to leave the cast due to booking a recurring role in a television series.

Producer Kevin McCollum announced today that the new American play, Hand to God, will open on Broadway on April 7, 2015 at the Booth Theatre (222 West 45th Street), marking the Broadway debut of playwright Robert Askins.

Obie Award winner Melia Bensussen (Luck of the Irish, Circle Mirror Transformation) returns to the Huntington Theatre Company to direct Awake and Sing!, Clifford Odets' stirring American classic about a working-class Jewish family striving for a better future. Performances at the Avenue of the Arts / BU Theatre begin Friday, November 7 and continue through Sunday, December 7, 2014.

Huntington Theatre Company Managing Director Michael Maso will receive the 2014 Hyde Square Task Force Inspiring Leader Award, to be presented on Wednesday, November 5 at the organization's Annual Making Change Happen Breakfast. The award is presented annually to an experienced and successful leader in the community who embodies the values of Hyde Square Task Force. Hyde Square Task Force (HSTF) has been working for more than two decades to develop the skills of youth and their families so they are empowered to enhance their own lives and build a strong and vibrant urban community.

Huntington Theatre Company and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) mark Ether Day today, October 16, in recognition of the 168th anniversary that ether anesthesia was first used during surgery. The groundbreaking medical advancement was achieved by dentist William T. G. Morton during a procedure performed by Dr. John C. Warren at Boston's own MGH. MGH celebrates Ether Day annually, honoring its employees for their years of service.

Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews, co-creators of the award-winning and Broadway bound musical "Witness Uganda," open the 2014-2015 Eccles Center season with heart-thumping Afro-pop sounds and heart-wrenching stories on November 1. Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Dracula, the Original Vampire Play, the second production in the 'Alley Theatre @ UH' season. Featuring iconic costume and set designs by Edward Gorey, the Alley's production is based on the original 1927 adaptation of the classic thriller that marvelously balances the menace of the horror tale with sophisticated satire.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre announces that the City of Berkeley has proclaimed Tuesday, September 30, 2014 Tony Taccone Day. This day will honor Berkeley Rep's Michael Leibert Artistic Director Tony Taccone as a pioneer in contemporary American theatre. Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates will host a ceremony to present Taccone an official proclamation between 7:00 PM and 7:30 PM in the City Council Chambers at 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. The ceremony will be broadcast on local radio through KPFB Radio 89.3 and on television through Cable B-TV, Channel 33.

Boston's Huntington Theatre Company stages Todd Kreidler's funny yet poignant adaptation of the ground-breaking 1967 film about the hidden prejudices that surface when two liberal families are confronted with their children's desire to commit to an interracial marriage.

The Skivvies, the 'hot musical duo specializing in unexpected arrangements, incongruous mashups, and, of course, highly toned displays of skin' (The New York Times), will entertain the Huntington Theatre Company's invited guests on Monday, September 29 at the rededication of the Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts. They replace the previously announced Lea DeLaria who had to withdraw unexpectedly due to a scheduling conflict.

The Lyric Stage Company of Boston's Producing Artistic Director, Spiro Veloudos, and its Board of Directors today announced that they have named Matt Chapuran as the 40-year-old theater company's new managing director. He will assume his full-time duties at The Lyric Stage on October 20, 2014.

On September 29, 2014, the Huntington Theatre Company will commemorate the 10th anniversary of its Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a private rededication ceremony and celebration. The Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA is the Huntington's home for new play development and provides a much-needed resource for the local theatre community by offering a world-class facility and services at rates subsidized by the Huntington to dozens of Boston's small and mid-sized theatre companies.
