BCAP/BPT's UNCLE JACK to Open Next Week

The Boston Center for American Performance (BCAP) and Boston Playwrights' Theatre (BPT) co-production of Michael Hammond's comedy Uncle Jack opens next week. Running from February 12 to March 1 at the Boston University Theatre's Lane-Comley Studio 210, the newest play from Boston University's New Play Initiative is directed by the playwright.

World Premiere of Christopher Gattelli and Stephen Flaherty's IN YOUR ARMS Comes to The Old Globe This Fall

The Old Globe today announced it will open its 2015-2016 Season with In Your Arms, a World Premiere dance-theatre musical featuring direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies, Godspell, Lincoln Center Theater's South Pacific) and original music by Tony Award winner Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once on This Island; two-time Oscar nominee for Anastasia). Co-conceived by Gattelli and Jennifer Manocherian, In Your Arms features 10 dance vignettes written by an incredible and diverse lineup of theatre powerhouses, including Douglas Carter Beane, Nilo Cruz, Christopher Durang, Carrie Fisher, David Henry Hwang, Rajiv Joseph, Terrence McNally, Marsha Norman, Lynn Nottage, and Alfred Uhry. Among them, the creators have amassed 14 Tony Awards, five Pulitzer Prizes, six Pulitzer finalist designations, and one Academy Award.

Goodman Theatre, in collaboration with Chicago's various off-Loop theaters and Northwestern University, unveils partial programming in its spring 2015 citywide "August Wilson Celebration" -- an extensive retrospective of the late playwright's life, artistry and influence on American culture. It is a signal of good writing and significant dramatic impact that a play which premiered in 1935 can be relevant nearly eighty years later. Clifford Odets' classic AWAKE AND SING! is grounded in the dire economics of the depression era and the circumstances of a Jewish immigrant extended family struggling to survive in their overcrowded Bronx apartment. Informed by her own family history, Obie Award-winner Melia Bensussen directs the Huntington Theatre Company production with intensity and an inherent understanding of the challenges faced by the Bergers and their ilk.

New Repertory Theatre Announces Change to 2014-2015 Season

New Repertory Theatre's 2014-2015 season will culminate with the Next Rep World Premiere of SCENES FROM AN ADULTERY by Ronan Noone. The production will replace THE MILK TRAIN DOESN'T STOP HERE ANYMORE, which was to feature Olympia Dukakis. Due to family commitments, Ms. Dukakis will be unable to appear in the production.
