(New York, October 14, 2015)—The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today that The Costume Institute's spring 2016 exhibition will be manus x machina: fashion in an age of technology, on view from May 5 through August 14, 2016(preceded on May 2 by The Costume Institute Benefit).  Presented in the Museum's Robert Lehman Wing and Anna Wintour Costume Center, the exhibition will explore the impact of new technology on fashion and how designers are reconciling the handmade and the machine-made in the creation of haute couture and avant-garde ready-to-wear.

UNIQLO, the global clothing retailer, has announced the fall opening dates for its ten new mall stores in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and California. With the opening of the new stores in October and November, UNIQLO will have a total of 17 stores in the U.S., in addition to the UNIQLO.com online shopping platform.

J Brand, the premium denim brand, is set to open it's first stand-alone retail stores in Los Angeles and New York in the coming year. This plan comes eight months after Japan's Fast Retailing, which also owns Uniqlo, Theory and Helmut Lang, bought a large stake in the denim brand. The Los Angeles outpost will open next summer with the New York store opening before the end of 2014.
