Harriet Harris, Tony Award winner for best featured actress in a musical for Thoroughly Modern Millie, has joined the cast of The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey's production of Noises Off by Michael Frayn, which begins performances on August 5 and continues through August 30th. Harriet Harris, who also won a Drama Desk award for her performance as Mrs. Meers in the hit Broadway musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, will play Dotty Otley, the role originated by Dorothy Louden on Broadway.

The production is about an assimilated Jewish family in 1958, suburban Connecticut whose lives are turned upside down when the father is passed over for a promotion because of their Judaism.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey celebrates the summer with two back-to-back classic comedies on the Main Stage. Molière's classic farce, The School for Wives, directed by Brian B. Crowe, kicks off the summer's mirth on July 8 and runs through July 26. The Tony Award nominated Noises Off, the hugely popular British farce by Michael Frayn and directed by Paul Mullins, begins performances on August 5 and continues through August 30.

LA Times: Original 'Leading Player' Vereen Cheers on PIPPIN at The Mark Taper

Ben Vereen earned a Tony Award for his singing and dancing in Pippin, and while his vast and celebrated career has taken him far beyond those early days of that Fosse hit, his heart will always belong to the stage. Vereen was there for the opening night of the CTG and Deaf West Theatre production of Pippin at the Mark Taper Forum. He spoke to the Los Angeles Time about performing in the original Broadway mounting, and how much the show still matters to the audience...and him. Vereen explained to the LA Times that 'Pippin' holds an undeniably central spot in his heart. 'Well, first of all, it got me a Tony,' he said with a loud laugh that echoed outside the theater minutes before the opening night curtain. 'It was also an honor to work with Bob Fosse. There was nothing more rewarding.'

The Center Theatre Group and Deaf West Theatre opened Pippin at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles January 25. Composer Stephen Schwartz and original cast members Ben Vereen and John Rubenstein joined in on the celebration.
