Songwriter Tori Amos and playwright Samuel Adamson teamed up with director Marianne Elliot to bring a new musical to the stage. After five years, The Light Princess has come to the National Theatre. The musical opened last night, Oct 9, starring Rosalie Craig as Princess Athea. The Light Princess also stars Amy Booth-Steel as Piper, Nick Hendrix as Prince Digby, David Langham as Flowers, Hal Fowler as King Ignacio, Ben Thompson as Zephyrus, and Kane Oliver Parry as Llewelyn. According to the Daily Mail, the National Theatre's 'documentary-style' musical LONDON ROAD is being made into a feature film, with screenplay by playwright and book writer Alecky Blythe, scriptwriter and playwright Moira Buffini (Tamara Drewe, Jane Eyre) and director Rufus Norris. According to the Daily Mail, Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical STEPHEN WARD is still searching for a West End venue, with hopes to begin rehearsals in October in time for November previews. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber is at work on a musical based on the events surrounding the 1963 Profumo Affair. Today, the Daily Mail has confirmed that Lloyd Webber will be leading a sing-through of the musical's score with Alexander Hanson as Stephen Ward and Hal Fowler as Profumo.
