Frick to Present First Exhibition in America on Piero della Francesca, Opening in February

Revered in his own time as a 'monarch' of painting, Piero della Francesca (1411/13-1492) is acknowledged today as a founding figure of the Italian Renaissance. In early 2013, The Frick Collection will present the first monographic exhibition in the United States dedicated to the artist. It brings together seven works by Piero della Francesca, including six panels from the Saint' Agostino altarpiece-the largest number from this masterwork ever reassembled. They will be joined by the Virgin and Child Enthroned with Attendant

Join us for the New-York Historical Society's inaugural Bernard and Irene Schwartz Classic Film Series, World War II and Its Legacy in Film, featuring opening remarks by notable directors, writers, actors, and historians. Produced in conjunction with New-York Historical's exhibition WWII & NYC, this selection of classic films will show a broad scope of life during and after the war and reflect many of the exhibition's themes, including life on the home front, the dispatch of troops and the struggle to readapt to postwar life.
Antico's Rare Renaissance Sculptures on View at The Frick Collection, Now thru July 29

Pier Jacopo Alari Bonacolsi, known as Antico, will have his rare sculptures on exhibition at The Frick Collection today, May 1 through July 29, 2012, after its successful run this past winter at the National Gallery of Art, Washington. There will be thirty-nine sculptures, comprising almost three-quarters of Antico's rare surviving oeuvre. The objects span Antico's activity and represent the genres in which he worked: medals, statuettes, life-size busts, and reliefs.
