Eavesdropping, snooping or just morbid curiosity seemed to be the scene set in Harold Pinter's play BETRAYAL now playing in a riveting production at Buffalo's Irish Classical Theatre. The playgoer sits on the sidelines, witnessing a deeply personal story of three  broken people, best kept behind closed doors.  

Another wholly dysfunctional family has entered the literary realm in a new play by Bryan Delaney and Buffalo's Irish Classical Theatre gets to show them off in all of their wretchedness. Dublin-born playwright Delaney has been named ICTC's Playwright in Residence and is best known to Buffalo audiences for his plays the The COBBLER and THE SEEDBED. His newest play, THE ONION GAME,  is a wicked black comedy set in rural North County Dublin and the results are mostly satisfying for it's revelatory nature and unexpected twists.

Playwright Tony Kushner's magnum opus may very well be what he subtitled 'A Gay Fantasia on National Themes.' Better known as ANGELS IN AMERICA, PART ONE: MILLENNIUM APPROACHES, this pivotal piece of theatre was written during the height of the AIDS crisis in America when maudlin stories of dying young men were plastered everywhere. But why refer to this piece as a 'fantasia' and what did it really mean. In lesser hands, the fantasia connotations could lead to ideas of raunchy drag show , but Kushner has fashioned a gripping account of one man's gut wrenching struggles with AIDS and how those around him cope with the illness. While sometimes blurring the borders of reality and fantasy, Kushner's fascinating play is underscored by the politics of the Reagan era mixed with religious ideologies.

Second Generation Theatre continues their inaugural season in residence at the Shea's Smith Theatre with Angels in America: Part One, Millennium Approaches. After the resounding success of the season opener, Big Fish, SGT switches gears to present one of the greatest theatrical journeys of our time. Heralded by the New York Times as "the most thrilling American play in years,", Tony Kushner's epic tale set in 1980's New York City manages to walk a line between heartbreaking and hopeful, irreverent and idealistic. Opening on March 8th, the production runs Thursday-Sunday until March 24th.

A series of purported subtle exchanges and misinterpreted actions of a small Irish family form the framework for Bryan Delaney's THE SEEDBED, now on stage at Buffalo's Irish Classical Theatre. Reminiscent of the darkness found is so much of Edward Albee's family dramas, playwright Delaney creates a brooding home that on the surface seems superficially concerned about how everyone is feeling and doing, when in actuality mother, father and daughter all are acting as victims to an unspeakable incident.

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) presents its first production, SPEED OF LIGHT, a world-premiere by Bella Poynton, as part of its 2015-2016 season. The production stars Sara Kow-Falcone, Steve Petersen, Jessica Stuber, Greg Natale, Bob Grabowski, Greg Howze, and Erica Lorenzetti with direction under Scott Behrend. SPEED OF LIGHT is the first production in the New Road Less Traveled Theater located at 500 Pearl Street. The show opens tonight, September 11th and runs through Sunday, October 4th.  Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) is excited to announce the grand opening of its new theater space on Friday September 11th at 500 Pearl Street in downtown Buffalo. The new Road Less Traveled Theater will offer more patron amenities including comfortable seating with plenty of legroom, a lobby bar and plenty of area parking and restaurants within walking distance. "The new Road Less Traveled Theater will remain a unique, intimate space, but inside a true architectural gem." says Managing Director, Gina Gandolfo-Lopez of the former Buffalo Christian Center and Forbes Theater space.
