The musical adaptation of the Helen Fielding novel had West End aspirations for an upcoming season. Now the Independent is reporting that Sheridan Smith will be confirmed to play the title role in the production.

Fielding is working with British recording artist Lily Allen and Greg Kurstin on the musical's score and lyrics and is working on the book with assistance from Julian Webber. Stephen Daldry, the director of BILLY ELLIOT, directed the recent workshop alongside Webber and choreographer Peter Darling; Working Title is producing the project.

The nationwide run, which also features Oh Land, kicks off July 21st in Minneapolis, MN and runs through August 19th in Vancouver, BC. Ximena joins on July 22nd in Chicago, IL.
