Chicago Theatre Week (#CTW17), an annual celebration of the rich tradition of theatre-going in Chicago, will take place February 9 - 19, 2017, spanning a week and two full weekends.

Casting is complete for the three 'developmental productions' featured in Goodman Theatre's 13th annual New Stages festival, a free celebration of new works by some of the country's finest established and emerging playwrights. These three plays, which are staged in repertory with modest production values following three weeks of rehearsal, include Blue Skies Process by Abe Koogler, directed by Henry Wishcamper; Support Group for Men by Ellen Fairey, directed by Kimberly Senior; and The King of Hell's Palace by Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig, directed by Tea Alagi. Goodman Theatre announces the lineup of its 13th annual New Stages festival-a celebration and discovery of new work by some of the finest established and emerging playwrights.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) begins its 2016/17 season with The Burials, a world premiere by acclaimed playwright Caitlin Parrish, directed by Erica Weiss. Inspired by the enduring Greek tragedy, Antigone, the production explores the aftermath of a mass shooting and how one family and one community respond to the tragedy in unique ways. SYA curates numerous workshops, residencies and post-show events to engage both students and adults in the conversation. 

Stage Left Theatre announces that current Artistic Director Vance Smith will be succeeded by Co-Artistic Directors Jason A. Fleece and Amy Szerlong. An Ensemble Member since 2009, Fleece has served as Associate Artistic Director since 2013. He recently directed SLT's critically-acclaimed production of The Body of an American. Involved with Stage Left since 2012, Szerlong became an Artistic Associate in 2013 and an Ensemble Member in 2015. She is currently directing the world premiere of The Bottle Tree. Smith will maintain his role through October, and will produce The Bottle Tree with the assistance of the new leadership.

The Old Globe today announced the cast and complete creative team for the highly acclaimed musical memoir The Lion, written and performed by award-winning songwriter Benjamin Scheuer and directed by Sean Daniels.

'It's Love!' Goodman Theatre adds eight performances of Mary Zimmerman's revival of Wonderful Town, extending the show through October 23.

Dr. Barbara Ann Teer's National Black Theatre (NBT) kicks off its 48th season with "The Alchemy of Black Joy," an exhibition of original works by renowned photographer Peter Cooper on Wednesday, September 7, and the world premiere of Harrison David Rivers' play "Sweet" on Wednesday, October 19. The events and productions reflect the theater company's theme this season: "In Pursuit of Black Joy."

The Hypocrites is pleased to launch its 2016-17 season with the Chicago premiere of YOU ON THE MOORS NOW, Jaclyn Backhaus's comical mash-up of mythology and 19th century literary heroines, directed by Devon de Mayo. YOU ON THE MOORS NOW will play September 9 - October 30, 2016 at The Den Theatre's Heath Main Stage, 1329 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood. Single tickets and season subscription packages are currently available at www.the-hypocrites.com.  The press opening is Sunday, September 18 at 7 pm.

Northlight Theatre announces its partnership with TodayTix-the free mobile app that provides on-demand access to last-minute theatre tickets-and the ridesharing company Lyft with its new Rush&Ride program for discounted tickets and free rides to and from the theatre. Rush&Ride offers a limited number of $20 tickets for the Chicago premiere of the hit off-Broadway play The City of Conversation, available exclusively on the TodayTix app, and includes free rides, courtesy of Lyft.

ShawChicago presents George Bernard Shaw's farce on the fashionable, Misalliance. Performances run September 17 - October 10 at The Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL 60610.

Wallis Annenberg Center for the Arts has announced the launch of AfterParty @ The Wallis, a new ticket access and post-show party program created to introduce new audiences to the Wallis' 2016/17 programming.

 The Singapore Literature Festival Closing Night: OUTSIDE THE LINES features theatrical performances of works by Alfian Sa'at (Hotel), Ovidia Yu (The Woman in a Tree On the Hill), and Marcus Yi (After the Merlion Returned Home). The staged readings will be performed on September 30, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the National Opera Center at 330 7th Ave, New York, NY. Free and open to the public. Registration is required. The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, by Kristoffer Diaz and directed by Kate St-Pierre, runs at Cockroach Theatre Company October 13 - 30, 2016.

Victory Gardens Theater recently announced the extension of its first show of its 42st season, Hand To God by Robert Askins, directed by Gary Griffin due to early ticket demand. Hand To God now runs tonight, September 16, through October 23, 2016, with the press performance on Friday, September 23, 2016, at 7:30 pm at Victory Gardens Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue.

The School of Night is pleased as punch to announce the impending remount of its 2016 Hollywood Fringe Festival hit Punch and Judy.

Teatro Vista, Chicago's largest professional Latinx theater company, kicks off its 26th season with the world premiere of Parachute Men, a raw, funny and poignant family drama by Mando Alvarado about three brothers who suck at being brothers, suck at love and suck at being men.
