Flushing Town Hall and New York City Council Member Daniel Dromm have announced an Open Call to LGBTQ performing artists based in New York City to participate in a fifth annual LGBTQ cultural event on Monday, May 13. Applications are due by March 15.

Flushing Town Hall has been presented with a significant challenge on the 40th anniversary season of the Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts: if Flushing Town Hall can raise $40,000 in new or increased donations by February 2019, an anonymous donor will match that with another $40,000.

On Friday, January 26, Flushing Town Hall presents Black String, a Korean group that creates contemporary sounds using ancient instruments. Embracing both traditional Korean music and jazz, Black String explores composed and improvised creations. The group's amplified geomungo (Korean zither), daegeum (bamboo flutes), traditional percussion, and the unpredictable melody of jazz guitar will captivate the audience.

On Saturday, October 21, Flushing Town Hall presents the voice of Venezuela , Betsayda Machado y La Parranda El Clavo, for a colorful evening of Afro-Venezuelan dance and music. Guests can participate in a dance lesson before the performance.

Illustrating its mission to provide global arts for a global community, Flushing Town Hall will bring the world to Queens on Saturday, May 6, when presenting Shanghai Memories: Golden Songs from the 1930s and 1940s.

Flushing Town Hall celebrates Mother's Day one day early this spring when it presents the Korean chamber opera, From My Mother's Mother, on Saturday, May 13.

On Saturday, November 12, Flushing Town Hall will celebrate the Festival of Lights with its second-annual Diwali Festival, featuring internationally renowned dancers and musicians from historic India and the Indian diaspora, with workshops, traditional foods, and family-friendly activities. 

Queens Theatre (QT) celebrated its 25th Anniverary with a gala on June 2, 2014 at Queens Theatre (14 United Nations Avenue South, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, NY 11368). The gala honored Euripides Pelekanos who is the co-founder and CEO of Queens favorite burger spot, Bareburger. Joining him were community leaders, culture icons, and other Queens taste-makers, all there to celebrate QT's contribution to the arts in Queens for a quarter century. Scroll down for photos!
