Christina DeCicco Joins SPIDER-MAN as 'Arachne' Today

Christina DeCicco will join the cast of Broadway's high-flying spectacular, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark in the role of 'Arachne,' beginning today, April 23, 2013. Katrina Lenk played her final performance in the role last Sunday, April 21.

Producers Michael Cohl and Jeremiah J. Harris announced today that Christina DeCicco will join the cast of Broadway's high-flying spectacular, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark in the role of 'Arachne,' beginning Tuesday, April 23, 2013. Katrina Lenk, who currently plays the role, will play her final performance on Sunday, April 21.

Julie Taymor Gets Better Billing as a Result of SPIDER-MAN Lawsuit

According to the New York Times, Julie Taymor came out of her lawsuit against the producers of SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK with better billing. As of March 2011, when Taymor was officially fired as director of the musical, Taymor was credited on the show playbill with 'Original Direction By' just under Philip Wm. McKinley, who was credited as director. Now as per terms in the settlement, Taymor is listed as director above McKinley, who's credit has been changed to 'additional direction by.'

In celebration of choreographer Lar Lubovitch's 70th birthday in 2013, The Joffrey Ballet's season concludes this spring with the return of the native Chicagoan's three-act dance, Othello. Set to a score by Oscar winner Elliot Goldenthal, Othello uses an amalgam of classical ballet and modern dance to tell the dramatic story of the Venetian Moor, Othello, his beloved Desdemona and the conniving Iago, in a vibrant tale of passion, jealousy, ambition and betrayal. Live orchestral accompaniment is provided by The Chicago Philharmonic, led by Joffrey Music Director Scott Speck. The Joffrey Ballet presents Othello in ten performances only at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 East Congress Parkway, April 24 - May 5.

It features music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy Award-winners Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley (The Boy From Oz), and a book co-written by Julie Taymor, Glen Berger(Underneath The Lintel) and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Fantastic Four and Spider-Man comics, 'Big Love'). Peter Parker died in the 700th and final issue of 'The Amazing Spider-Man,' and in the video below, the cast tributes the character along with a slew of other stars. Check it out below!

Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark has announced the Foxwoods Theatre as a New York Cares Coat Drive public collection site. From November 15 - December 31, 2012 patrons can drop off coats outside the box office at 213 West 42nd Street between 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., and during show hours on performance days.

Jake Epstein, best known as the star of the hugely popular teen series "Degrassi: The Next Generation," will make his Broadway debut as the Peter Parker / Spider-Man Alternate in Broadway's SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark. Epstein will play Saturday and Sunday matinee performances beginning on December 8, 2012 at the Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street).

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, the record-breaking Broadway spectacular, held a Halloween safety press conference earlier today at the Foxwoods Theatre. Hosted by Spider-Man (Reeve Carney) and the Green Goblin (Robert Cuccioli), also in attendance were members of the "Sinister Six" and two members of New York's Finest. Glen Berger to Write Book on Making of SPIDER-MAN

According to the New York Times, playwritght Glen Berger, who recently worked alongside Julie Taymor, Bono and the Edge on Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, will write a book on the whole saga, titled "Song of Spider-Man: The Inside Story of the Most Controversial Musical in Broadway History."
