Ars Nova presents Missed Connections NYC, short plays by Ars Nova's Play Group, playing for five performances only January 27 - 31. From the pages of Craigslist to the Ars Nova stage, Ars Nova's Play Group presents a night of short plays and live music inspired by ads for the ones that got away. Featuring plays by Annie Baker, Bekah Brunstetter, Dylan Dawson, Kristoffer Diaz, Zayd Dohrn, Tasha Gordon-Solmon, Amy Herzog, Samuel D. Hunter, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Steven Levenson, Matthew Lopez, Janine Nabers and Samuel Brett Williams, the show will be directed by Stephen Brackett, Adrienne Campbell-Holt, Tamara Fisch, Wes Grantom and Kerry Whigham.

Fences, August Wilson's powerful story of a fractured African-American family in 1950s Pittsburgh, comes to South Coast Repertory's Segerstrom Stage January 22 through February 21.

Ordinary Days, Adam Gwon's charming musical ode to New York, will kick off the new year at South Coast Repertory. Fresh from a successful run at the Roundabout Theatre Company, Ordinary Days will make its West Coast debut Jan. 3-24 on the Julianne Argyros Stage.

After a successful nine and a half month run, The Toxic Avenger, the critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway musical, will end its New York run, having played over 300 performances at New World Stages on Sunday, January 3rd, 2010, to prepare for its national tour. The Toxic Avenger had its world premiere at the George Street Playhouse in New Brunswick, New Jersey where it broke box office records before transferring Off-Broadway, beginning previews on March 18, 2009 and officially opening on April 6, 2009.

Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions in association with Weinstein Live Entertainment, has announced, with Broadway In Chicago, casting for the Chicago production of Billy Elliot the Musical, beginning preview performances March 18, 2010 at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre (24 W. Randolph St.). Opening night is Sunday, April 11, 2010. The cast includes John Peter (J.P.) Viernes who joins the previously announced actors Tommy Batchelor, Giuseppe Bausilio and Cesar Corrales in the role of ‘Billy'.

Several New Jersey theatres have faced budget cuts and loss of grants during these tough economic times. While some theatres have been forced to cut back on the number of productions this season, other have used resourcefulness and assistance of their employees in order to push through a difficult season.

As previously reported, The George Street Playhouse has cancelled their upcoming run of the play FOX ON THE FAIRWAY and has replaced it with A.R. Gurney's SYLVIA. Due to conflicting schedules, Ken Ludwig's FOX ON THE FAIRWAY has been moved to the 2010-2011 season. SYLVIA will be directed by David Saint and will run March 30th, 2010 through April 25th, 2010.
