Happy Birthday, Ira Gershwin! A lyricist, Gershwin collaborated with his younger brother, composer George Gershwin, to create some of the most memorable songs of the 20th century. With George he wrote more than a dozen Broadway shows, featuring songs such as 'I Got Rhythm', 'Embraceable You', 'The Man I Love' and 'Someone to Watch Over Me'. He was also responsible, along with DuBose Heyward, for the libretto to George's opera Porgy and Bess. The success the brothers had with their collaborative works has often overshadowed the creative role that Ira played. However, his mastery of songwriting continued after the early death of George. He wrote additional hit songs with composers Jerome Kern ('Long Ago (and Far Away)'), Kurt Weill and Harold Arlen.

Bela Fleck performs his Banjo Concerto in his Cleveland Orchestra debut at Severance Hall tonight, December 6, 7, and 8. Giancarlo Guerrero leads all-American program, including Gershwin's An American in Paris. The December 7 concert continues KeyBank Fridays@7 series, and the concerts continue tonight, December 6, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 8, at 8 p.m.

Maureen McGovern - the two time Grammy Award nominated vocalist and actress - will perform her acclaimed show 'Home For The Holidays' in New York with an exclusive engagement at 54 Below from December 18 to 23. McGovern will present an evening featuring songs of the season, some unexpected, and some traditional "chestnuts." She will be joined by her longtime Musical Director Jeffrey Harris on piano and Jay Leonhart on bass.

Arizona Theatre Company presents the Arizona Premiere of "Jane Austen's Emma" a new romantic musical comedy that brings Jane Austen's masterpiece to life. "Jane Austen's Emma" plays at the Temple of Music and Art and runs from December 1, 2012 - December 22, 2012. It continues its run in Phoenix at the Herberger Theater Center from December 31, 2012 - January 20, 2013. "Jane Austen's Emma" is sponsored by Shirley Estes. ATC's season sponsors are I. Feinstein's at Loews Regency will continue its Fall 2012 season with the debut engagement of mother-son duo of world-class jazz pianist, Bill Charlap and Grammy Award-nominated vocalist Sandy Stewart. The pair will perform a collection of ballads from some of the most popular songwriters of the twentieth century such as George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Harold Arlen, Richard Rodgers and Irving Berlin. The show will run from tonight, November 19 to 24 at the Loews Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).
