Herbert S. Schlosser, Co-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Museum of the Moving Image, announced today that Richard Plepler, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Home Box Office, Inc., and Charlie Rose, Co-Anchor of CBS This Morning and Anchor and Executive Editor of Charlie Rose on PBS, will be honored at the Museum's annual black-tie benefit on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at The St. Regis Hotel. Each spring, the Museum holds this event, recognizing top leaders in the media industry.

As BroadwayWorld reported yesterday, America's Poet Laureate Maya Angelou has passed away at the age of 86. The poet died last night, May 27th in a Winston-Salem, North Carolina hospital while recovering from an 'unexpected ailment'. She died surrounded by her family. CBS swept the Daytime Emmy Nominations today with 60 nods. The #1 daytime drama, THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS, received 26 nominations, more than any other show. CBS received more nominations than any other network.

All the Way, the new play by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan, starring BREAKING BAD's Bryan Cranston, opened on March 6, 2014, on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre. The play is directed by Bill Rauch, Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, where All the Way began its theatrical life. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, the Broadway spectacular that defied odds and expectations to conquer New York, will play its final performance at the Foxwoods Theatre on January 4, 2014. Since the announcement, there has been speculation as to whether the show, which ran for 3 years on Broadway, will make it to the infamous wall of flops at Joe Allen (326 West 46th Street).
SPIDER-MAN to Open at Steve Wynn's Encore Theatre in Las Vegas?

Now according to the Las Vegas Sun, Wynn is making space for the musical at the Encore Theatre. Robin Leach writes: 'I can safely confirm Steve's "very serious interest" in moving the high-flying spectacular to open in his Encore Theater in a year, but nothing is apparently yet signed and sealed. He's prepared to financially back its revamped version, adding incredible, stunning Las Vegas elements to the extravaganza.'
