Rep Stage, the professional Equity theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), opens its 19th season with Liz Duffy Adams' farcical comedy 'Or,'. The free love of the '60s - the 1660s - is riotously explored in this recent Off-Broadway sleeper hit based on real-life playwright Aphra Behn's life as an undercover spy and her romantic romps through Restoration England in order to gain entry into the boys' playwriting club. Michael Stebbins, Rep Stage's producing artistic director, who directed last season's critically acclaimed 'Two by J.M.Barrie: The New Word and The Old Lady Shows Her Medals,' returns to direct this regional premiere. Jason Odell Williams ('Two by J.M. Barrie...'), Christine Demuth ('Two by J.M. Barrie...' and 'The Glass Menagerie') and Broadway alum Charlotte Cohn star.

New this year: Two companies will tour, creating more opportunities for performances and dialogue within our communities. This new adaptation by Stephanie Fleischmann and Dmitry Troyanovsky and directed by Dmitry Troyanovsky, embarks on a one month-plus tour on October 4th; special Opening Night public performances in the Cook Theatre will be on October 6th at 6 pm & 8:30 pm.

Midwest New Musicals kicks off Words and Music, its new concert reading series of original musicals beginning Monday, October 24 at 7:30 PM at the Light Opera Works Second Stage, 1420 Maple (at Lake) in Evanston. Tickets are $15 at the door.

The newly imagined Broadway production of ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER starring Grammy and Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Harry Connick, Jr. will open on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at The St James Theatre. According to the NY Times, Jessie Muellerwill star opposite Harry Connick, Jr. as Melinda Wells in the revival. Additionally, David Turner, will play gay florist David Gamble in the production.

Previews are set to begin on November 12, 2011. The delightful Tony Award nominated score by Burton Lane (music) and Alan Jay Lerner (lyrics) is enhanced by classics from their film scores for On A Clear Day You Can See Forever (1970) and Royal Wedding (1951). With a new book by Peter Parnell based on the original book by Alan Jay Lerner, the musical is reconceived and directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer.
