Annie Baker, Will Eno, et al. to Take Part in Signature Theatre Company's Residency Five

Signature Theatre Company has just announced the playwrights participating in the Theatre's new Residency Five initiative, part of the expanded programming that will be presented at Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street, near 10th Avenue), the Company's new Frank Gehry-designed home. Annie Baker, Will Eno, Katori Hall, Kenneth Lonergan and Regina Taylor will be the program's inaugural playwrights.
Signature Theatre Company to Open Signature Center in February 2012

Signature Theatre will open Signature Center, its new, permanent home designed by Frank Gehry, in February 2012. Spanning an entire city block at 42nd Street between Dyer and 10th Avenue, Signature Center is the largest non-profit performing arts center to be built in New York since Lincoln Center opened more than 50 years ago. Featuring three intimate theatres, a studio theatre, rehearsal studio, and a public café and bookstore, the Center will be both a theatre community hub and a neighborhood destination, and has been designed to foster interaction among playwrights, collaborators, and the public. The $66 million project is being funded through a public-private partnership and will be staffed by more than 400 people annually.

Signature Theatre announced today that John and Amy Griffin have donated $5 million in support of Signature Center, the Company's new, permanent home opening in February 2012. Arvo Pärt and Snøhetta Collaborate for Guggenheim Exhibition

For the second edition of stillspotting nyc, a two-year multidisciplinary project that takes the Guggenheim Museum's programming out into the streets of New York City's boroughs, Estonian composer Arvo Pärt and U.S. and Norway-based architecture firm Snøhetta create urban soundscapes around Lower Manhattan that explore the relationship between space and sound.

Signature Theatre Company will launch the theatre's new home, Signature Center, with Athol Fugard as its inaugural Residency One playwright. Residency One is Signature's core one year playwright-in-residence program that produces a series of plays from the body of work of one accomplished writer.
Signature Theatre Company's THE ILLUSION Begins Final Week of Performances

Signature Theatre Company's production of Tony Kushner's THE ILLUSION, directed by Michael Mayer begins its final week of performances tonight, July 12. The production, originally slated to run through July 10, 2011, was extended an additional week due to popular demand and will run through Sunday, July 17, 2011.
