Coming up tonight, February 28 at 9:00PM EST, PBS will present the national, TV broadcast premiere of Jazz and the Philharmonic, a co-production by the National YoungArts Foundation-a national organization that identifies and supports the next generation of artists-the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, and JAZZ ROOTS Producer Larry Rosen. Jazz and the Philharmonic was presented and filmed at the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center on January 11, 2013 and is a unique and wholly American concert experience which highlights two of the greatest musical art forms, classical and jazz. LA Phil Announces 2014-15 Season at Walt Disney Concert Hall

Music Director Gustavo Dudamel and President and CEO Deborah Borda today announced the 2014/15 season of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Council for Canadian American Relations to Honor Jacqueline Desmarais and Frank Gehry at 40th Anniversary Gala, 4/30

On April 30, 2014, Jacqueline Desmarais, patron of the musical arts and benefactor of young musicians, and Frank Gehry, iconoclastic architect and design visionary, will be honored by the Council for Canadian American Relations (CCAR) at its 40th anniversary Gala dinner in New York City at the Metropolitan Club. The Honorary Gala Chairmen are The Right Honourable Brian Mulroney and Mrs. Mila Mulroney, and The Honorable Hilary M. Weston and W. Galen Weston. Audrey and David Mirvish with Lauren and John J. Veronis are the Gala Co-Chairs. The gala will host prominent dignitaries as well as leaders in business, the arts, and public life from both countries.

National YoungArts Foundation Announces 2014 Winners in Literary, Performing, Visual and Design Arts

The National YoungArts Foundation today announced its 2014 YoungArts Winners. Out of approximately 11,000 applications, 687 young artists from 46 states have been recognized for their outstanding work and accomplishments in one of ten disciplines across the literary, performing, visual and design arts fields. Michael Tilson Thomas to Replace Yannick Nezet-Seguin with Philadelphia Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, 12/6

Carnegie Hall today announced that conductor Michael Tilson Thomas has graciously agreed to step in for Yannick Nezet-Seguin, leading The Philadelphia Orchestra's performance in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage this Friday, December 6 at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Nezet-Seguin has cancelled this appearance as well as concerts this week in Philadelphia on medical advice that he not travel for the next few weeks due to sinus-related problems. Pianist Helene Grimaud is soloist for this performance; Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 1 will replace the previously-announced Brahms's Piano Concerto No. 2 at her request. The second half of the program, featuring Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, remains as announced.

La MaMa will celebrate their 2013 season of performances with a gala honoring two pillars of arts journalism: former Village Voice critic Michael Feingold, and publisher Patsy Tarr of 2wice. Throughout their long careers, these two individuals have carved out a voice for the arts, championing countless artists working across platforms.

Los Angeles Philharmonic Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen concludes his two-week stint at Walt Disney Concert Hall by leading the LA Phil and violinist Leila Josefowicz in his Violin Concerto, Friday and Saturday, October 25 and 26, at 8 pm, as well as Sunday, October 27, at 2 pm. All three performances also feature one of Salonen's most famous specialties, Sibelius' Fifth Symphony. The Saturday and Sunday performances open with Ives' The Unanswered Question.
