'Border Towns' Plays at HERE, 9/10-9/18

Kicking off its 2010-11 season, HERE proudly presents Border Towns from Nick Brooke/The Cabinet, playing September 10-18. With music and sound as the driving force, this productionjourneys through the psychological landscape of the U.S., creating a theatrical reflection onrecording, location and culture. Border Towns is created and directed by HERE Resident ArtistNick Brooke, with co-direction by Jenny Rohn. Official Opening Night is set for Sunday,September 12 at 9:00 PM at HERE (145 Sixth Avenue).

Jewish Voice for Peace has collected over 150 names of Obie/Emmy/Tony/Pulitzer and other prize- winning theater and film professionals in support of the Israeli actors'/playwrights' boycott of Israeli settlements. The issue has exploded in Israel and now support for the boycott has gone global.

Community Forum Held At Ohio Theatre, Wooster Street Space To Close 8/31

The League of Independent Theater and the Innovative Theatre Foundation will co-sponsor The Community Forum on the Ohio Theatre. The event will begin at 6:30pm at the Ohio Theatre located at 66 Wooster Street in Soho, NY. After two years of negotiation, two lease extensions, and a 29-year history as an indispensable pillar of the downtown theatre scene, the Ohio Theatre must close the doors at its Wooster Street space forever on August 31, 2010.

The Ohio Theatre, a pillar of New York's downtown theatre scene for 29 years, will close on August 31, 2010. The new landlord has issued official notice and no further negotiations are scheduled.

Five years after Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf South, V-Day, the global activist movement to end violence against women and girls, in partnership with Ashé Cultural Arts Center and The Women Donors Network, will host two special performances of SWIMMING UPSTREAM directed by Eve Ensler, in New Orleans on September 10th at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre and in New York on September 13th at the Apollo Theatre.

V-Day is pleased to announce that renowned actor/singer LaChanze, best known for her Tony award winning performance in Broadway's The Color Purple has joined the cast of Swimming Upstream, September 10th at The Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans and September 13th at The Apollo Theater in New York City. For the first time, ABC Daytime and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center are teaming up to produce a benefit engagement of Kander & Ebb's award-winning musical revue, THE WORLD GOES 'ROUND. The performances will feature All My Children's Bobbie Eakes and Natalie Hall and General Hospital's Bradford Anderson and Brandon Barash.
