James Brolin Joins the Cast of 'When Calls the Heart'

Hallmark Channel announces Golden Globe(R) and Emmy(R) winner James Brolin ('Marcus Welby, M.D.,' 'Hotel,' 'Christmas with Tucker') has joined the cast of the Hallmark Channel Original Series, 'When Calls the Heart.' Brolin will play Judge Jedidiah Black in the season one finale of the primetime series airing Saturday, March 29 at 9pm ET/PT 8C.

Giving viewers an early dose of romance for Valentine's Day, Hallmark Channel's newest original movie, 'Chance at Romance', premiered on Saturday with a 1.5 household rating. The February 8 premiere attracted over 2.7 million unduplicated viewers to the network and ranked as the #2 cable movie of the day. On the original series front, Hallmark Channel's newest scripted series, 'When Calls The Heart' is showing solid week-over-week growth, with the February 8 episode delivering a 1.4 household rating and reaching more than 2.0 million unduplicated viewers.

Hallmark Channel further fortified its position as a destination for original episodic programming with the premiere of its second scripted series, When Calls the Heart, debuting to a 1.5 household rating and a reach of more than 2.2 million unduplicated viewers. The Saturday, January 11th Season 1 opener elevated Hallmark Channel to be the #2 household-rated network in the 9-10pm time period, as well as #2 among P2+ (.8 rtg). The series premiere also placed among the top 10 in key demo impressions, including #2 in P2+ (1,685,000) and #3 in HH (1,286,000). New episodes of the series, based on the bestselling Canadian West novels by Janette Oke and starring actresses, Erin Krakow, Lori Loughlin, and Jean Smart will air every Saturday night for 12 consecutive weeks.

When Hallmark Channel's second original primetime series 'When Calls the Heart' begins filming this summer, it will mark the first time a TV series has been shot in the gorgeous surroundings of Telluride, Colorado. It also will be the first narrative TV series shot in Colorado since 1991, when the 'Father Dowling Mysteries' series was filmed here. 'We are delighted with Hallmark Channel's choice of Colorado for its latest series,' said Gov. Hickenlooper. 'With Hallmark Channel's brand behind it, the show will have a positive economic impact for our state and provide tremendous national exposure for Telluride and all of Colorado.'

The Guthrie Theater today announced that Ashley Rose Montondo has joined the cast of its summer production of Pride and Prejudice. She assumes the featured role of Elizabeth Bennet after the sudden departure of Erin Krakow. Montondo steps into her first major role on the national stage, opposite leading man Vincent Kartheiser (television's 'Mad Men') in the role of Mister Darcy. The production is theSimon Reade adaptation of the classic Jane Austen novel in the two-hundred-year anniversary of its publication, helmed by Guthrie director Joe Dowling.

The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for its summertime romance Pride and Prejudice adapted for the stage by Simon Reade based on the novel by Jane Austen in the 200th anniversary of its publication. The production will be directed by Joe Dowling and will feature Erin Krakow (Guthrie: The Importance of Being Earnest; Off-Broadway: The Shanghai Gesture, Prometheus Bound; Television: "Army Wives") as Miss Elizabeth Bennet along with previously announced Vincent Kartheiser (Guthrie: A Christmas Carol, Henry V, Henry IV; Regional theater: Death of the Novel; Film: Untamed Heart, In Time; Television: "Mad Men") as Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy.
