KCETLink Media Group, a leading national independent non-profit public broadcast and digital network, announced today that the world's first made-for-TV opera 'VIREO: The Spiritual Biography of a Witch's Accuser,' composed and conceived by Lisa Bielawa, will make its world broadcast television premiere on Tuesday, June 13 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on both KCET in Southern California and Link TV (DirecTV375 and Dish Network 9410) nationwide.

On Monday, April 24, 2017 at 7:30pm, composer Lisa Bielawa's The Trojan Women will be performed by the conductor-less chamber orchestra String Orchestra of New York City (SONYC) as part of Victoria Bond's Cutting Edge Concerts New Music Festival at Symphony Space in Leonard Nimoy Thalia hall. In addition to Bielawa's piece, the concert will also include SONYC performing Victoria Bond's Frescoes and Ash, plus Taka Kigawa performing works by Richard Carrick, Sean Sheppard, and Zosha Di Castri.

Ill Seen Ill Said is a late work from Samuel Beckett that paints a haunting picture of an old woman alone in a cabin, who watches the evening and the morning star and ventures out chiefly to visit a grave. In prose of great poetic beauty, which the author translated from his original French text Mal vu mal dit in 1982, Beckett returns to the imagery of the Old and New Testaments to speculate on the great questions of human existence.

There is certainly something worthwhile about theater that pushes boundaries, tries new things, experiments and offers unique way to tell a story. The art form, in general, benefit from that kind of work. It benefits from work that expands the minds of an audience and tells them a story in a way that challenges them. On the other hand, Wilbury Group's second show of the year, 10,000 Things by Erik Ehn, proves how this kind of theater can instead leave an audience bored, confused or both.
