Marin Ireland and More Join CTG's A PARALLELOGRAM; Full Cast Announced!

The cast is set for 'A Parallelogram,' the riveting new play by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winner Bruce Norris. Directed by Tony Award-winner Anna D. Shapiro, 'A Parallelogram' will be presented at the Taper, July 10 through August 18, 2013. The opening is scheduled for July 21. The cast includes Carlo Alban, Marylouise Burke, Marin Ireland and Tom Irwin.

Alana Arenas and More Join Steppenwolf Theatre's TRIBES; Full Cast Announced!

Casting is complete for Steppenwolf Theatre Company's Chicago-premiere production of Tribes by Nina Raine. Ensemble member Austin Pendleton directs a cast featuring ensemble members Alana Arenas, Francis Guinan and Molly Regan with Steve Haggard, Russell Harvard and Helen Sadler. The American premiere of Tribes was Off-Broadway at Barrow Street Theater in 2012, and also featured Harvard, alongside ensemble member Jeff Perry; Harvard was recently featured in the Mark Taper Forum production as well.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is proud to announce casting for the upcoming eighth annual First Look Repertory of New Work, featuring three developmental productions of new plays presented in rotating repertory July 29 - August 25, 2013 in the Garage Theatre (1624 N Halsted St). First Look 2013 includes: Buena Vista by Edith Freni, The Gospel of Franklin by Aaron Carter and Annie Bosh is Missing by Janine Nabers. The 2013 festival also features readings of three new plays during Professionals' Weekend (August 8 - 11), including Tempo by Mike Batistick, Your Name Will Follow You Home by Carlos Murillo and BARBECUE by Robert O'Hara. Steppenwolf Theatre Company ensemble member Randall Arney directs fellow ensemble member William Petersen with Rae Gray this summer in Slowgirl by Greg Pierce. Performances of this Chicago premiere are in Steppenwolf's newly reconfigured Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Steppenwolf Theatre Company concludes the 2012/13 subscription season with the Chicago premiere of Belleville by Amy Herzog, directed by Anne Kauffman. Belleville features ensemble members Alana Arenas and Kate Arrington with Chris Boykin and Cliff Chamberlain. Belleville begins previews June 27, 2013 (Opening night is July 7; Press performances are July 6 at 3pm and July 9 at 7:30pm) and runs through August 25 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Steppenwolf Theatre Company ensemble member Austin Pendleton directs The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter in the Upstairs Theatre, at the helm of a Pinter play for the first time. The theater has been newly reconfigured by Pendleton with scenic designer Walt Spangler to bring the audience closer to the story by moving the stage to the center of the room. 'Race and Representation in Chicago Theater' Conversations Begin at Victory Gardens Theater

Victory Gardens Theater, The League of Chicago Theatres, Silk Road Rising and Lifeline Theatre are collaborating on a new conversation series, Race and Representation in Chicago Theater, that will discuss the issues of race and representation in Chicago's theater community. The series, featuring panelists to include actors, playwrights and directors, will focus on the importance of cultivating, developing and producing work that "looks like Chicago," and will frame for both artists and audiences the importance of accurate representations in the work we experience together. Race and Representation in Chicago Theater comprises two events, Playing Race, to be hosted at Victory Gardens on Thursday, January 31 following the 7:30PM performance of Disconnect; and Building a Theatre of Inclusion: Perspectives on Asian American Casting and Producing, to be held at Silk Road Rising on Monday, February 18 at 7:00PM.
