The Hollywood Reporter writes that Scott Rudin -- producer of films such as Captain Phillips and The Social Network and many Broadway productions, including this season's Betrayal and A Raisin in the Sun -- has nabbed the rights to Garth Rick Hallberg's new novel CITY ON FIRE. In a rare move, the 900-page book is heading to the big screen before inking a print deal.

The New York Times reports that Oscar nominee Michelle Williams will star for the first time on Broadway as 'Sally Bowles' in Roundabout Theater Company's upcoming production of Cabaret. She will take the stage alongside Alan Cumming as the M.C. at Studio 54 in 2014, co-directed by Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall. Roundabout is expected to make an official announcement soon.
300's Rodrigo Santoro to Join Will Smith in Con Artist Film FOCUS

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE's Rodrigo Santoro has signed on to join Will Smith and Margo Robbie in the con artist flick, originally set to star Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Kristen Stewart was also at one time attached to the project.
Teen Cancer America Will Be Official Charity of 2013 Young Hollywood Awards

The 2013 Young Hollywood Awards, which celebrates the best emerging young talent in film, music and television, has announced that Teen Cancer America is its official charity. Teen Cancer America assists hospitals nationwide in the development of cancer units designed to give patients ages 13-24 positive physical and emotional outlooks. Cody Simpson, along with Olympic skating gold medalist Tara Lipinski, are two of Teen Cancer America's celebrity ambassadors and are participating in the Awards show, which will air on Thursday, August 1 from 8 - 10 p.m. ET/PT on the CW Network and will emanate from the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, CA.
Marcia Gay Harden, Eileen Atkins & More Sign on for Upcoming Woody Allen Comedy

According to Variety, Broadway veterans Eileen Atkins, Marcia Gay Harden, Hamisch Linklater and Simon McBurney have all joined the cast of Woody Allen's new, untitled comedy. Also starring are previously announced Colin Firth, Jeremy Shamos, and Emma Stone. The Gravier Productions film is produced by Allen's longtime associates, Letty Aronson and Stephen Tenenbaum.

Jeff Blake, Sony Pictures's Chairman of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution announced today that the studio has ordered two more installments of The Amazing Spider-Man franchise - and each has received a tentative release date. The third film is set to swing into theaters on June 16, 2016, and the fourth on May 4, 2018.

Jeremy Shamos, the Tony nominated actor for Clybourne Park, will be joining the previously announced Colin Firth and Emma Stone for Woody Allen's new film. Shamos is currently starring in the Tony nominated Best Play "The Assembled Parties" on Broadway, but will be leaving to film in the south of France starting mid July.
