Schimmel Center presents AMERICAN DANCE SPECTACULAR!

The Schimmel Center presents American Dance Spectacular! on Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m., exploring the history of American popular dance throughout the 20th century, including the Charleston, Lindy hop, jitterbug, twist, voguing, and more. The performance is directed, co-written and created by Daniel C. Levine (Broadway's Les Mis rables, Chicago, and Mamma Mia!) with choreography by Al Blackstone (Fox's So You Think You Can Dance), music direction by Bryan Perri (Broadway's Wicked and Next to Normal), and book by Susan Batten (Lifetime's Showing Roots) together with six Broadway dancers backed by three vocalists and a live band.
PIAF! The Show Comes to the Athenaeum Theatre

Awesome Company is proud to present for one night only PIAF! THE SHOW, Sunday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m., at the Athenaeum Theatre, 2936 N. Southport Ave. starring Anne Carrere and written and directed by Gil Marsalla. This Chicago engagement is part of a 400 performance worldwide tour of the production and recently played Carnegie Hall in New York on the 60th anniversary of Edith Piaf's final performance at the venue. Maestro LUKE FRAZIER and THE AMERICAN POPS ORCHESTRA — Washington, DC's innovative hometown orchestra — have announced their all-star 2017-2018 season. The diverse line-up will include a tribute to legendary soul singer Aretha Franklin, a special evening combining yoga with the APO's favorite standards, a new family show based on the classic tale Around the World in 80 Days, and a program celebrating the wit of iconic songwriter Cole Porter. Unless otherwise noted, all shows are at the Orchestra's new home, Arena Stage at The Mead Center for American Theater (1101 Sixth Street SW).
