As a life-long fan of Edgar Allan Poe and site-specific theater, I jumped at the chance to attend NEVERMORE, a one-of-a-kind guided tour experience by Metro bus through the San Fernando Valley. Billed as a unique Halloween experience taking place only on Saturday, October 29 celebrating Edgar Allan Poe and the San Fernando Valley, audience members accompanied by a tour guide travelled along METRO's Orange Line each hour from 11am to 3pm. Each tour commenced at the Van Nuys Civic Plaza, and traversed through Laurel Canyon shops and the Eclectic Company Theatre, and culminated at North Hollywood Park.

On Today, October 29, the NEVERMORE METRO Immersive Arts Festival (NEVERMORE) will be presented at various sites in the San Fernando Valley, with diverse artists celebrating the city of Van Nuys and the life of Edgar Allan Poe.

'Nevermore: The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe' is an unforgettable new musical play about one of the world's most famous and fascinating writers. Blending fact and fiction, the show's unique operatic score uses poetic dialogue, eerie sound effects, underscored verse, and haunting songs ranging from Weimar cabaret tunes to rock power ballads, to tell the story of Poe's tormented yet transcendent life.

This Halloween weekend the creative team of Aaron Washington and Keith Eisenstadt will be providing audiences with a different style of haunting. On the evening of Today October 29th and afternoon of Sunday October 30th, Washington and Eisenstadt will present 'Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe'. The show will be a collaboration between directors; Aaron Washington, Keith Eisenstadt, and Lauren Rodriguez. To support literature and the arts in local classrooms, producers will be donating a portion of each ticket sold through DonorsChoose.org. Performances will be held in The Studio @ The Carrollwood Cultural Center.

Wordstage Literary Concerts presents two different performances in two different venues to celebrate the Halloween season.

The Boston International Antiquarian Book Fair will present a special exhibition, Collecting the Boston Music Scene: 1976-2016, in celebration of the event's 40th Anniversary, October 28-30, 2016.

 On Saturday, October 29, NEVERMORE will celebrate Edgar Allan Poe and the San Fernando Valley by taking five groups of 15 audience members through intimate guided tours along METRO's Orange Line each hour from 11am to 3pm.  Each tour will commence at the Van Nuys Civic Plaza, traverse through Laurel Canyon shops and the Eclectic Company Theatre, and culminate at the North Hollywood Park. 

On October 26th and 28th, Unison Media's performance series The Crypt Sessions will celebrate Halloween early with the world premiere of pianist/composer Gregg Kallor's dramatic canata based on Edgar Allan Poe's The Tell-Tale Heart, featuring mezzo-soprano Elizabeth Pojanowski, cellist Joshua Roman, and Kallor himself at the piano.

NEVERMORE: The Imaginary Life and Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe is a Canadian musical that was written and composed by Jonathan Christenson which follows the rather dismal life and internal struggles of Edgar Allan Poe that later on inspired his work as an author. The script contains references to both his poems and short stories. While most of the script dramatizes true events in his life, other aspects are entirely fictitious. The musical was originally produced at the Catalyst Theatre in Edmonton, Alberta and went on to be performed across Canada, and at the Barbican Theater in London, and the New Victory Theatre in NYC. The current production now playing at Austin Playhouse is a regional premiere.

The Morris Museum is pleased to announce that the Azure Ensemble, a chamber music group based out of New York City, will perform a classical music program inspired by the French Impressionist period at the Bickford Theatre on Sunday, October 30 at 2:00PM.

The Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra (VAMSO) presents Sergei Prokofiev's timeless symphonic tale, Peter and the Wolf, November 27, 2016, 2pm at the Orpheum Theatre. This enchanting story of a boy outwitting a wolf will come to life with music by VAMSO's more than 100 musicians, and a splendid performance by dancers of Goh Ballet choreographed by Adonis Daukaev. Bard on the Beach Founder & famed theatre figure, Christopher Gaze, will lend his voice as narrator for this delightful family event.

Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theater presents a fall foray into the macabre with the musical Nevermore. With music by Matt Connor, book by Grace Barnes, and lyrics adapted from Edgar Allan Poe, Nevermore runs October 20 - November 6. Nevermore is directed by Christopher Ostrom and features Leigh Barrett, Cynthia Harrington, Amie Lytle, Madison Mayer, Ethan Paulini, and Anne Stott, with Music Director & Pianist John Thomas.
