New Sites, Collaborators & Metro Plan Announced for NEVERMORE Saturday 10/29

By:

On Saturday, October 29, NEVERMORE will celebrate Edgar Allan Poe and the San Fernando Valley by taking five groups of 15 audience members through intimate guided tours along METRO's Orange Line each hour from 11am to 3pm. Each tour will commence at the Van Nuys Civic Plaza, traverse through Laurel Canyon shops and the Eclectic Company Theatre, and culminate at the North Hollywood Park.

Concurrently, a free Poetry Hub at the Van Nuys Civic Plaza will feature live poetry readings by over 40 local poets, crafts, face painting, literary booths, poetry giveaways, a graffiti wall, live drawings, Virtual Reality stations, a METRO information table and a food vendors. Part haunting, part community storytelling exploring neighborhood change and development, NEVERMORE will be a unique Halloween experience. Participants will discover hidden cultural treasures, engage with LA's premier immersive performers, and explore the visceral power of art. All audience members are encouraged to arrive in costume.

At the culmination of the 3pm guided tour, NEVERMORE will host an awards ceremony at the Van Nuys Civic Plaza honoring Michael McDowell (former LA Tourism & Convention Board VP for Cultural Tourism), Cece Tio (Producer of Moving Arts and The Playwrights Union) and Ovanes Chobanian (Deputy, LA Councilmember Nury Martinez' Office) as pioneers and champions in nurturing and developing mobile, community-based arts in LA.

NEVERMORE is a project of Theatre Magnet, a subsidiary of Artist Magnet, and RENT Poet, in partnership with the Eclectic Company Theatre. NEVERMORE is funded in part by the City of LA Artist-in-Residency Program and the Creative Economic Development Fund (CEDF) with support from the Surdna Foundation, the Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI) and the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA). Additional support comes from the LA Tourism & Convention Board, the Offices of LA Councilmembers Nury Martinez & Paul Krekorian and LA County Supervisors Sheila Kuehl & Michael Antonovich. NEVERMORE has aligned with METRO's Metro Plan campaign and encourages participants to keep up-to-date on Metro milestones and share their comments on social media with #metroplan.
