Like all of the theatre community, BroadwayWorld is shocked and saddened to learn of the untimely passing of 21-year-old Les Miserables performer Kyle Jean-Baptiste after an accident at his mother's home on Friday night. Eden Espinosa, star of Broadway's Wicked, Rent, and Brooklyn, will headline EDEN ESPINOSA AND FRIENDS, a concert to benefit Legacy Theatre on Thursday, July 16th at 7:00pm. The concert will take place at the Owenego Inn & Beach Club, located at 40 Linden Avenue in Branford, Connecticut. Following the smash success of last year's sold-out WITNESS UGANDA: IN CONCERT, Jonathan Larson Award-winning composer Matt Gould will host the performance, featuring a cast of Broadway stars. On Monday, June 6th the Theater People Podcast welcomes two-time Tony winner Michael Cerveris. The star of stage and screen won his second Tony Award last month for his turn as Bruce Bechdel in FUN HOME. Cerveris shares stories of his over two-year journey with the show, which won this year's Tony for Best New Musical. He discusses his decision not to read the graphic memoir on which the show is based, and his experience of visiting the real life Bechdel home where most of the show takes place. 

Tonight, July 1, 2015, the sound of Broadway will come to the MCT Center for the Performing Arts as MCT's Next Step Prep presents Eden Espinosa - Live in Concert, a fundraiser for the Next Step Prep scholarship fund.

More than $500,000 was raised in support of older foster kids needing permanent families with the help of Broadway and Hollywood heavy-hitters last night at the St. James Theatre, including Tina Fey, Jane Krakowski, Darren Criss, Tituss Burgess, Megan Hilty, Caroline Rhea and many more. The inaugural event, hosted by Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley with BeachBody.com, supported youth in foster care through You Gotta Believe, New York's only nonprofit specifically focused on finding permanent families for youth in foster care aged 10 year and older, and the Council on Adoptable Children (COAC).

The seventh annual National High School Musical Theatre Awards / Jimmy Awards were held tonight, June 29, 2015, at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway.
