SONDHEIM ORIGINALS: OLD FRIENDS Set for 54 Below This Weekend

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Broadway favorites Ann Morrison ('Merrily We Roll Along'), Pamela Myers ('Company') & Chip Zien ('Into The Woods') in 'SONDHEIM ORIGINALS - OLD FRIENDS' this weekend, January 16 & 17, 2015. These three original Sondheim cast members share songs and stories, recalling their experiences creating their roles in these landmark musicals on Broadway. The show is conceived and directed by Grammy and Emmy Award winner, John McDaniel, as part of his second season as artistic director of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's Cabaret and Performance conference.

Princeton Symphony Orchestra to Perform Music from Movies, 2/7

On Saturday, February 7, at 8 pm, the Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) presents PSO Saturday Evening POPS!, recasting its annual mid-winter pops concert into A Silver Screen Salute. Hosted by NPR film critic Bob Mondello, conducted by PSO Music Director Rossen Milanov, and featuring a special guest appearance by the American Boychoir, the program spotlights the award-winning works of John Williams, composed for the popular box office films Star Wars, Schindler's List, Jurassic Park, and Indiana Jones. The voices of the American Boychoir join in on Amistad's "Dry Your Tears, Afrika," Saving Private Ryan's "Hymn to the Fallen," and Empire of the Sun's "Cadillac of the Skies" and "Exsultate Justi." Many other movie scores will be represented, including music from The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, Cinema Paradiso, Laura, The Magnificent Seven, Sunset Boulevard, Lawrence of Arabia, and Vertigo.

Offering a fresh look at the groundbreaking play that established David Mamet as a seismic force in theater, the Department of Music, Theatre and Dance at California State University, Los Angeles joins forces with multiple award-winning Deaf West Theatre to present American Buffalo. Professor of Theater and longtime Deaf West collaborator Stephen Rothman directs Deaf West regulars Troy Kotsur (Spring Awakening, Cyrano) and Paul Raci (Cyrano, What Are You...Deaf?) along with Cal State L.A. MFA candidate Matthew Ryan Pest for a Feb. 14 opening at the 250-seat State Playhouse on the university campus (just east of downtown).

Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber have announced the next production in the second season of Chicago's hit 'lost' musicals in staged concert series, Porchlight Revisits... City of Angels, featuring book by Larry Gelbart (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, M*A*S*H), music by Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity, Barnum) and lyrics by David Zippel (The Goodbye Girl, Disney's Mulan) with direction by Christopher Pazdernik and music direction by Aaron Benham. City of Angels is presented for two-nights-only Tuesday, March 3 and Wednesday, March 4 at 8:00 p.m. and is performed on the set of Porchlight's Sondheim on Sondheim (February 6 - March 15) on nights when there are no performances at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave.

Ted Sperling will conduct the New York Philharmonic and vocalists Laura Osnes and Santino Fontana in A Broadway Romance, a one-night-only Valentine's Day concert, Saturday, February 14, 2015, at 8:00 p.m. The program will feature songs from popular musicals ranging from Bernstein's West Side Story and Gershwin's Girl Crazy to Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel and Stephen Sondheim's Company, woven together to tell a unified narrative of a romance from beginning to end, from meeting to first date to falling in love to marriage.

Lyric Opera of Chicago announced today that Laura Osnes will star as Julie Jordan in Lyric's new production of Carousel, on stage April 11 through May 3, 2015. Osnes comes to Lyric following her Tony-nominated role in Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella on Broadway. She joins Steven Pasquale, who stars as Billy Bigelow, in this new production directed and choreographed by legendary Tony, Emmy, and Olivier Award winner Rob Ashford.
