Flashpoint Theatre Company Presents World Premiere of THE BENDS, Beginning 3/13

Flashpoint Theatre Company dives deep into their 2012-2013 season, titled XX, as the company presents the World Premiere of Megan Mostyn-Brown's The Bends. Flashpoint is setting out to explore the lives and issues women face this season and The Bends is an explosive way to kick the theme off. The Bends follows the company's holiday show and their Barrymore and Brown Martin Award winning World Premiere of Slip/Shot. The show runs March 13-March 31 and opens Saturday, March 16 at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $15-$22. All shows will take place at the Off-Broad Street Theatre, 1636 Sansom Street. hotINK at the Lark 2013 Set for 4/17-22

hotINK at the Lark will present seven play readings, written by playwrights who hail from outside of the United States. Each play will be presented once, following an eight to ten hour workshop with a director and actors from the New York theater community. In addition, special events are planned for visiting playwrights and translators.

Mary Lou Williams Celebration to Take Place at Park Avenue, 2/20

In celebration of Black History month, Arts at The Park's artist-in-residence Deanna Witkowski will lead a trio (with bassist Linda Oh and drummer Willard Dyson) and a 12-voice choir of professional jazz vocalists (including Sara Serpa, Tammy Scheffer, Miles Griffith) in a performance of works by the preeminent African-American jazz pianist, composer, and innovator Mary Lou Williams (1910-1981) who broke through her era's significant barriers to women jazz musicians. The concert will take place on Wednesday, February 20th at 8 pm at The Park Avenue Christian Church (known affectionately as 'the Park'), 1010 Park Avenue at 85th Street in Manhattan.
Nari Ward's 'Amazing Grace' Remains On View at the New Museum Through April 21

Lehmann Maupin has announced Nari Ward's inclusion in the New Museum's forthcoming exhibition NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star. The exhibition was conceived as a time capsule that attempts to capture a specific moment at the intersection of art, pop culture, and politics. While NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star will open in its entirety on 13 February 2013, Nari Ward's "Amazing Grace" is currently on view in the museum's Studio 231 space through 21 April 2013.

After a successful run at The Flea, the theater has announced the extension of the U.S. Premiere of I HATE F*CKING MEXICANS by Luis Enrique Gutierrez Ortiz Monasterio "the enfant terrible of contemporary Mexican theater." Translated by Debbie Saivetz, Ana Graham, and Danya Taymor and directed by Ms. Taymor, a Flea Resident Director; the production features members of The Bats and The Riot Group's Adriano Shapman. Previews began October 9, with opening night on October 18. The show is now extended with limited performances through December 11.
