Performance Project @ University Settlement to Present TALA in 2015

The Performance Project @ University Settlement will present the World Premiere of TALA, a multicultural play about the immigrant experience written and directed by Kyoung H. Park. Produced by Kyoung's Pacific Beat, previews begin January 8 at University Settlement with opening set for January 10.

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) is pleased to announce the launch of its sixth annual BSO Academy Week. From Saturday, June 20 through Saturday, June 27, 2015, instrumentalists from across the country are invited to rehearse and perform side-by-side with BSO musicians and under the direction of Music Director Marin Alsop in an intensive music "fantasy camp." The BSO's Academy Week was notably featured in The New York Times and has become a popular destination for amateur musicians from across the country. The Academy provides an immersive experience for participants who desire a comprehensive learning experience through four distinct tracks for performers, educators and administrators: Orchestral Track, Chamber Music Track, Music Educator Track and the Arts Administrator Track. Tony Speciale to Direct Jordan Dean, Jeff Hayenga, Mark Junek and Elizabeth Morton in LOCUST SONG Reading, 11/17-18

Jordan Dean (Mamma Mia! CSC's Midsummer), Jeff Hayenga (The Man Who Came to Dinner, The Elephant Man), Mark Junek ('Smash', Berkeley Rep's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike) and Elizabeth Morton (Death of a Salesman) will lead an industry reading of Locust Song, a new play by Jerry Marsini on November 17th at 7 pm and on November 18th at 12:30pm at the WorkShop Theater Company's Main Stage, 312 W 36th Street. Drama Desk Nominee, Tony Speciale, who recently directed the Barry Manilow musical Harmony (2014 Suzi Bass Award winner Outstanding Director of a Musical & Outstanding Production of a Musical), will direct the Manhattan reading.

It is the second album devoted to Supko's music, following drawn only once on New Amsterdam in 2011. Eugene O'Neill's Desire Under The Elms opens on Friday and runs through October 26th at Raleigh Little Theatre. The play is a combination of several Greek myths set on a family farm in New England, and premiered on Broadway in 1924. It is RLT's second production of the play and the first in the Triangle since the 2009 Broadway revival, which starred Brian Dennehey.

Billy Childs Opens Segerstrom Center's 2014-15 Jazz Season Tonight

When composer/arranger/pianist Billy Childs was introduced to the music of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer-songwriter Laura Nyro at the age of 11, he was left with a powerful and lasting impression of Nyro's unique blend of Broadway-inspired melodies, jazz improvisations and socially conscious lyrics. Childs returned to that early experience for his latest project, creating and orchestrating his newest album, Map to the Treasure: Reimagining Laura Nyro. Orange County jazz fans will have the opportunity to hear Childs' loving homage to the late great Nyro at Segerstrom Center for the Arts tonight, October 17 at 8 p.m. in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall.

The Cleveland Pops Orchestra Chooses Marcus Glover as the Honoree for the 2014 G-Clef Ball

The Cleveland POPS Orchestra announces its annual G-Clef Ball fund raiser. The event will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2014 in the ballroom of the Cleveland Marriott East. This year, the orchestra has chosen Senior Vice President and general manager of Horseshoe Cleveland's $400 million casino development in downtown Cleveland, as its honoree for the event. Mr. Glover is being honored by Cleveland POPS Orchestra for his many leadership roles in Cleveland's business, civic and cultural arts organizations.
