The tenth anniversary season of Glorya Kaufman presents Dance at The Music Center continues with the U.S. debut of The National Ballet of Canada's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon with music by Joby Talbot, at The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion with live orchestra for five performances only tonight, October 19-21, 2012. Karen Kain is the Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada.

Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center will kick-off its 2012-2013 10th Anniversary season with its commission of the inaugural full-length program by L.A. Dance Project founded by acclaimed choreographer Benjamin Millepied. The L.A. Dance Project commission will have its premiere performances tonight, September 22 and 23, 2012 at The Music Center's Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Blue13 Dance Company and the Dance Conservatory of Pasadena celebrate National Dance Day with a fundraiser, "INDIAN SUMMER," at the Dance Conservatory of Pasadena, 496 South Arroyo Boulevard, Pasadena, Calif., on Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. - Midnight, an Outdoor and Indoor Festival including a Bollywood Bazaar, a Bollywood Bhangra Dance Party and performances throughout the day and night by Blue13 Dance Company, Trey Rich, Jamie Gregor, Marie Poppins, Francisco Martinez, MnR Dance Factory, Daniel Coffman, Prince Andrew, Jacob Jonas & Jill Wilson, Shiva Ware, and Chris "cj3" Rutledge. Live music will be provided by Suvah Entertainment. A portion of the proceeds from the day will benefit The National Kidney Foundation, a charity close to Blue13 Dance Company Artistic Director, Achinta S. McDaniel's heart, having lost her sister to complications related to kidney disease in 2003.

Westside Center for Independent Living Holds Fundraiser to See Bolshoi Ballet's SWAN LAKE, 6/8

The Associates of the Westside Center for Independent Living (WCIL) will present a fundraising event to see The Bolshoi Ballet, last seen in Los Angeles 20 years ago, for a performance of "Swan Lake" to be presented at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Music Center on Friday, June 8, 2012. Event tickets will include VIP seating, and food and beverages served to guests at the Beverly Hills Tennis Club; 340 North Maple Drive; Beverly Hills, CA 90210. Singer and keyboardist Aalon will perform during the initial part of the event at the Beverly Hills Tennis Club.

Huntington Beach APA's Elizabeth Romero, DAMN YANKEES Honored Last Weekend

Huntington Beach High School and Academy for the Performing Arts senior Elizabeth Romero won the Spotlight competition for non-classical voice after performing at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Saturday night in their annual event, hosted by Broadway star Ben Vereen. Selected as one of eight award winners out of 2300 students from 400 schools, Elizabeth will receive a $5,000 cash scholarship. In other news, HB APA's production of Damn Yankees soared in performance at the John Raitt Awards in Fullerton on Sunday.

5th Anniversary Season at the Broad Stage Set to Include Luciana Souza, Dulce Rosa et al.

After raising L.A.'s cultural pulse with new productions attracting critical acclaim, The Eli & Edythe Broad Stage at the Santa Monica College Performing Arts Center had unveiled its vision for the future and announced its 5th Anniversary Season beginning on September 1, 2012 with the Brazilian jazz singer Luciana Souza. Highlights of the expanded season include world premieres from today's most relevant companies and artists in dance, theater, and music from around the world; artistic partnerships with London's Menier Chocolate Factory, the Los Angeles Opera, and Shakespeare's Globe Theatre; the 4th Annual Westside Jazz Experience featuring stars such as Pat Metheny, Rickie Lee Jones, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds; a return of family programs including a hit from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival; and artists direct from Brazil, Cuba, Europe, and across the U.S.

Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award-winning actress Cynthia Nixon will join soprano Lisa Delan and pianist Kristin Pankonin in an evening that features Gordon Getty's The White Election, a song cycle based on the poetry of Emily Dickinson. Ms. Nixon will read selections from Emily Dickinson's letters. The event will take place on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. at The Stanley H. Author, Playwright Anne Commire Passes Away

Anne Commire, author, playwright and women's historian, passed away from cancer at her home in Waterford, Connecticut on February 23, 2012. Four of Commire's plays won O'Neill Awards and she received the prestigious Dartmouth Medal, from the American Library Association, for the groundbreaking 17 volume Women in World History, an encyclopedia of 10,000 women worldwide, published by Yorkin Publications.
