Mary Tyler Moore may not have been in the Metropolitan Room last night as her former on-screen boss Ed Asner (Lou Grant in THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW) performed a one man comedy titled A Man and his Prostate written by Ed. The Kennedy Center today announced a robust schedule of 2015-2016 performances as part of Comedy at the Kennedy Center, the largest since the new series was established in the 2014-2015 season. Capital One is the presenting sponsor. Comedy at the Kennedy Center will include three signature events in the Concert Hall, featuring nationally renowned comedic acts, and the Center's first District of Comedy Festival from June 22-25, showcasing an array of celebrated comedians who will be performing on stages across the building. The District of Comedy Festival will also launch a newly-engaged collaboration with Chicago's legendary comedy theater, The Second City, featuring a Kennedy Center commission that focuses on the history of the United States, which will run for six weeks in the Theater Lab. Tickets for these events go on sale to members on Monday, November 23, 2015 and to the general public on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 (unless otherwise noted).

Producing Artistic Director Carolyn Griffin is pleased to announce that MetroStage will open the 2015-16 season with the Rolling World Premiere of UPRISING by Atlanta playwright Gabrielle Fulton as part of the Women's Voices Theater Festival, Sept 17- Oct 25. Thomas W. Jones II will direct and choreograph, and William Knowles will music direct.

Malibu Playhouse kicks off a comedy summer season tonight, July 11, with the one-night benefit performance of 'A Man and His Prostate,' starring Hollywood legendary actor, Ed Asner. This is the first produced stage play for noted television writer-producer, Ed. Weinberger, who wrote this one-man comedy serving as his new venture into the theatre world. When asked what it was like working with Asner, Weinberger replied, 'It's always nice being in the hands of a legend.'

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will host its annual Juneteenth celebration on June 22 at noon on the Courtyard Stage. The event is free, though donations will be accepted for the Juneteenth Scholarship Fund.
