The former (or is he?) head of the classified, covert government organization B613 has been the series' most dangerous and destructive force since Season 2, and with tonight's highly anticipated Season 6 premiere just hours away, Papa Pope's portrayer Tony-nominee and Emmy-winner Joe Morton is happy that the show is finally back.

Riant Theatre Announces 2016 Pioneer of the Arts Award Winners

The Riant Theatre (Van Dirk Fisher, Artistic Director), a nonprofit theatre supporting playwrights and theatremakers of diverse cultural backgrounds, is holding the Launch Party for its annual Strawberry One-Act and Theatre Festival on Saturday, June 25, 2016, 3pm at the Poet's Den Theatre (309 East 108th Street, NYC). The evening will include the presentation of 2016 Pioneer of the Arts Award For Outstanding Achievement In Television and Theatre to the Emmy-winning stage, film and TV actor Joe Morton, Tony Nominee and eight time AUDELCO Award winner, Andre De Shields, the acclaimed Broadway and television actress Barbara Montgomery, and multiple Grammy Award winner, Broadway musical director and arranger Chapman Roberts. A reception with food, drinks and dancing will follow. Kennedy Center Adds to District of Comedy Festival

From June 22-25, the Kennedy Center presents its first District of Comedy Festival, bringing together acclaimed stars and rising acts for an all-laughs takeover of the nation's center for the performing arts. The festival, an expansion of Capital One's Comedy at the Kennedy Center sponsorship, features stand-up shows, a musical comedy revue, a jazz and comedy mashup, and a performance for children and families in spaces across the Center. The District of Comedy Festival also coincides with the world premiere of a new collaboration with Chicago's The Second City, which will run for six weeks in the Theater Lab. Tickets for the newly announced performances go on sale to Kennedy Center Members on Monday, April 4, 2016 and to the general public on Thursday, April 7, 2016.

John Legend has signed on to produce a new Off Broadway play about Dick Gregory, the American civil rights activist, social critic, writer, entrepreneur, and comedian.The play is called TURN ME LOOSE, and will even feature an original song by John Legend.
