While Providence Performing Arts Center is known by many as the place in town where the big touring Broadway musicals make their local stop, PPAC isn't just about the Broadway shows. It's also a venue with a reputation for bringing in countless other kinds of performances, from stand-up comedy to internationally renowned dance troupes. Recently, PPAC has also hosted a string of amazing concert performances from some of the world's most talented and beloved musicians. Last year featured such performers as Beck and Jackson Browne and this year includes the recent appearance of Diana Krall, making a stop on her "Wallflower World Tour."

William 'Count' Basie started The Count Basie Orchestra in 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri. Within a year, America was listening in on popular radio shows throughout the country to hear what would become 'The greatest swing band in all the land!' A phenomenon was born in 1935 that is still going strong today! Harris Center for the Arts is proud to present this legendary orchestra.

Harpist Edmar Castaneda to Perform at Zankel Hall, 3/6

On Friday, March 6 at 9:30 p.m., virtuoso harpist Edmar Castañeda taps into his musical influences from his native Colombia as well as musical traditions from Venezuela and Argentina for a performance in Zankel Hall. Castañeda is known to have introduced international audiences to the popular South American musical style joropo to which he distinctively fuses the sounds of contemporary jazz. His remarkable technique on the harp—he plays lead, rhythm, and bass lines all at once—is equaled only by his soulful improvisations.

Matt Cavenaugh and Elena Shaddow will star in the concert 'A Broadway Romance,' with Symphoria Orchestra in Sryacuse NY - tonight, February 6, 2015 - 7:30 PM at the Crouse-Hinds Concert Theater.
