The Public Theater Adds Performances of 'Road Show'

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) has announced there will now be a 2PM matinee performance of ROAD SHOW every week as well as an additional 8PM performance on December 22nd, 2008. Tickets went on-sale on Sunday, October 12.

On Wednesday, September 17th, Broadway Voices, a new singing quartet from the New York City Gay Men's Chorus, made its debut performance at The Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues) with I Want It All - A Maltby and Shire Songbook. The legendary songwriting duo, Richard Maltby and David Shire, along with Shire's wife, actress Didi Conn (Grease) were on hand to wish the quartet well on their opening night.

BMI To Offer 'Composing for the Screen' Workshop With MPA

Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), the U.S. performing right organization will co-sponsor with The Manhattan Producers Alliance, 'Composing for the Screen: Film Scoring for a New Era,' a five-class workshop that will examine the diversity of film composition. This is an opportunity for six emerging film composers to utilize the professional facilities of the Manhattan Producers Alliance, and collaborate in composing short cues excerpted from a range of film sources. Selected students will record, review, and share work in a friendly and supportive environment, which will lead to a final project where all workshop participants will compose a cue to a well known film.

Originally aired only once on the ABC Stage 67 television series, Evening Primrose was an original musical written especially for television by Mr. Sondheim and James Goldman, from the short story by John Collier.
