Producers Vatican Lokey* and Edward R. Cox* have announced The Gretna Mainstreet New Music Theatre Festival, April 7th and 8th at the new Gretna Cultural Center for the Arts in Old Gretna, LA.

The three finalists of Mainstreet Musicals' 2017 season have been named.

The Drama Book Shop is pleased to welcome back Dame Harriet Walter for a discussion about her new book, Brutus and Other Heroines: Playing Shakespeare's Roles for Women, on Monday, February 6th at 5:00PM. Walter will sit down with theatre critic and historian David Finkel for an intimate conversation about tackling some of the Bard's greatest roles, and her latest theatrical adventure at St. Ann's Warehouse. The event is free to the public and will be followed by a signing. Copies of the new title, published by Nick Hern Books, will be available for purchase ($26.95).

The 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 8:00 PM at The Town Hall (123 W. 43rd Street), it was announced today by Charles Wright, Drama Desk President and Gretchen Shugart, CEO of TheaterMania.com and Managing Executive Producer of the Drama Desk Awards. The Lincoln Center Theater production of the Tony Award-winning musical Falsettos officially opens tonight at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street).  William Finn and James Lapine's beloved musical  is the story of the charming, neurotic Marvin, who struggles to find an unconventional and loving extended family after leaving his wife and son for his lover Whizzer.

Eight years after launching her show 'Love Rolls On' (originally directed by Lina Koutrakos) at the Metropolitan Room, Susan Winter will reprise her critically acclaimed show, featuring classics of the Great American Songbook and future standards by contemporary writers, at the same venue in the 13th installment of the celebrated monthly series produced by Stephen Hanks' NEW YORK CABARET'S GREATEST HITS (Associate Producer Fr. Jeffrey Hamblin, MD). With Rick Jensen as Musical Director on piano and Tom Hubbard on bass, Winter will perform LOVE ROLLS ON on October 7 at 7 pm.

London's critically acclaimed Shakespeare's Globe, under the artistic direction of Emma Rice, will light up US stages and screens this summer and fall, with a three-city limited engagement of The Merchant of Venice, which will play limited engagements in New York, Washington, D.C. and Chicago in July and August. Two-time Olivier- and Tony Award-winner Jonathan Prycestars as Shylock. The production is directed by Jonathan Munby.

Strawdog Theatre Company's second production in its 2015 - 2016 Hugen Hall season is the world premiere of ROBIN HOOD AND MAID MARIAN, adapted by Forks and Hope and based on Alfred Lord Tennyson's The Foresters, running now through December 29, directed by Matt Pierce at Hugen Hall in Strawdog Theatre Company, 3829 N.
