Sundance Institute and India's Mahindra Group today announced the four winners of the 2013 Sundance Institute | Mahindra Global Filmmaking Awards, in recognition and support of emerging independent filmmakers from around the world. The winning directors and projects are: Sarthak Dasgupta, THE MUSIC TEACHER from India; Jonas Carpignano, A CHJANA from Italy-US; Aly Muritiba, THE MAN WHO KILLED MY BELOVED DEAD from Brazil; and Vendela Vida & Eva Weber, LET THE NORTHERN LIGHTS ERASE YOUR NAME from UK-Germany-US.
Sundance Institute and Alfred P. Sloan Mark 10th Anniversary of Collaboration

Sundance Institute and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation today announced the members of the Sloan Jury at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival, who will also participate in the Science in Film Forum Panel at the Festival. The members of the 2013 Sloan Jury are: Paula Apsell (Senior Executive Producer, Nova and Nova ScienceNow, Director, WGBH Science Unit), Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, The Fountain, Pi), Scott Burns (writer, Contagion, Pu-239, The Informant and producer, An Inconvenient Truth), Dr. André Fenton (Professor of Neural Science at the Center for Neural Science at New York University), Dr. Lisa Randall (Frank B. Baird, Jr., Professor of Science, Harvard University, author of Knocking on Heaven's Door: How Physics and Scientific Thinking Illuminate the Universe and the Modern World).

The Museum of Modern Art and the Film Society of Lincoln Center today announced seven official selections for the 2013 New Directors/New Films Festival (ND/NF) (March 20-31). Dedicated to the discovery of new works by emerging and dynamic filmmaking talent, the 2013 edition marks the film festival's 42nd year.

Tony and Emmy Award winner Hugh Jackman was honored by Museum of the Moving Image at its 27th annual Salute last night, December 11, at Cipriani Wall Street in New York. Jackman wase on hand to accept his Salute, along with Alec Baldwin and Mike Nichols (both past MMI Salutees), Rachel Weisz, Anne Hathaway, Liev Schreiber, Universal's Ron Meyer, Fox's Jim Gianopulos and many of his fellow cast-mates from Les Miserables.

Film Independent Co-Presidents Sean Mc Manus and Josh Welsh jointly announced today the 28th FILM INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARDS will once again hold its traditional Saturday afternoon awards show in a tent on the beach in Santa Monica on February 23. The live-to-tape event will be executive produced by Diana Zahn-Storey who returns for her 17th broadcast and will premiere later that evening on IFC at 10:00 pm ET/PT.

L.A. Dance Project, which gave its inaugural performances at Disney Hall in Los Angeles this past September, will make its Peak Performance debut, tonight, October 25-28, with a program of classic works by two of the greatest dance innovators of their generations, William Forsythe ("Quintett") and Merce Cunningham ("Winterbranch"), and the local premiere of "Moving Parts" by L.A. Dance Project's Founding Director Benjamin Millepied.
