Ed Sheeran will play himself in Danny Boyle's next film, according to The Associated Press.

The James Bond producers and star Daniel Craig announced that Danny Boyle was exiting the 25th installment of the series, which he had been set to direct, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles (BAFTA Los Angeles) is pleased to announce that Academy Award Winner and “12 Years a Slave” director Steve McQueen will receive The John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing at the 2018 British Academy Britannia Awards. The award will be presented by Academy, Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress Viola Davis.

Jennifer Westfeldt ('Younger,' 'Friends with Kids') and Victoria Justice ('Victorious,' 'Eye Candy') have been tapped for the freshman season of the forthcoming scripted series 'Queen America' on Facebook Watch, Facebook's new video platform. Westfeldt's status is as a recurring guest star with Justice attached to the project for dual-episodes. This new series stars Oscar and Tony award-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones (Vicki Ellis). 'Queen America' is created, written, and executive produced by Meaghan Oppenheimer ('Fear the Walking Dead'). Westfeldt and Justice join previously announced series regulars Belle Shouse, Teagle F. Bougere, Rana Roy, Isabella Amara, Molly Price and Megan West.

Following a smash-hit season at The Peacock Theatre, London, a sell-out tour of America and a stop off in Film City, Mumbai, the all-singing, all-dancing Bollywood spectacular Taj Express arrives at Birmingham Hippodrome from Tues 11 - Sat 15 September for a strictly limited run.

Producers Brass Jar Productions (Drunk Shakespeare) and Olivier Award-winning producer, James Seabright announced today that the critically acclaimed, no-holds-barred production of Irvine Welsh's Trainspotting Live will premiere Off-Broadway this summer direct from a world tour. Adapted by Harry Gibson, the production captures the passion and controversy of the generation-defining novel and globally successful film and repackages it into a full-throttled stage show where the audience is an integral part of the action, including the notorious 'Worst Toilet in Scotland' scene. Directed by King's Head Theatre Artistic Director, Adam Spreadbury-Maher in collaboration with Greg Esplin (who will also appear in the U.S. production), Trainspotting Live will open a custom-built immersive performance space at 777th 8th Avenue, also home to the long running hit, Drunk Shakespeare. Preview performances are set to begin today, July 5, 2018 with an opening night set for Sunday, July 15, 2018. The U.S. cast of Trainspotting will be announced soon. The Orchard Project, a nationally renowned performance laboratory, today announced the six original, independent pilots selected to participate in its first annual Episodic Lab. More than 430 artists applied to the inaugural year of the Episodic Lab, which will help writers develop television and episodic content, working with accomplished showrunners and producers as mentors. The New York Times has reported that the new James Bond film will be directed by Danny Boyle. Boyle won the best director Oscar in 2009 for Slumdog Millionaire. Daniel Craig will reprise his role as the title character.

By popular demand, Fathom Events, BY Experience and National Theatre Live announce the addition of two celebrated titles to the 2018 event cinema line-up. This includes director Marianne Elliot's production of "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time" (originally recorded in 2012) in U.S. cinemas on Tuesday, June 12 and director Danny Boyle's 2011 staging of "Frankenstein" presented in cinemas in two versions on Monday, October 22 with Benedict Cumberbatch as Creature and on Monday, October 29 with Jonny Lee Miller as Creature. The events were captured live from the National Theatre in London during their original runs.

The National Theatre has announced its May-September 2018 season.
