The Globe wants to make theatre matter to more people! The Old Globe's Arts Engagement department invites friends, flappers, jitterbugs, and all of San Diego to our latest free AXIS event, Swing Out at the Globe, on Saturday, July 22 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on the Globe's Copley Plaza, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center in Balboa Park, preceding the 2:00 p.m. matinee of Guys and Dolls.

D.C.-born vocalist/composer Lulu Fall, actress in the Broadway musical Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, and Kris Johnson, director of Jazz Studies at the University of Utah; trumpeter, soloist, and arranger with the Count Basie Orchestra, have just released the music video and single for 'Pretty For A Dark Girl' from their upcoming album 'The Unpaved Road,' which will be out via Artist Centric Music, LLC on August 22, 2017. New Philly POPS BIG Band to Debut on 7/4

The new Philly POPS BIG Band will perform its first two shows on July 4 during the Wawa Welcome America Festival. At 10 a.m., the ensemble will play at the City of Philadelphia's July 4 Celebration of Freedom ceremony and parade on Independence Mall. At 7 p.m., the BIG Band will open the city's Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert and fireworks show on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. NBC10 and Telemundo62 will televise both performances.

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra announces the departure of Education & Community Engagement Conductor and NJSO Youth Orchestras Artistic Director Jeffrey Grogan. Grogan will serve as Director of Orchestras at Oklahoma City University and will lead the university's graduate orchestral conducting program; he has also been appointed Artistic Director and Conductor of the Oklahoma Youth Orchestras, effective in August.
