In Spring of 2020 Alison Cook Beatty Dance was booked and ready to present 11 Companies from around the country in Artists In Motion 2020. But when COVID-19 and Broadway shut down, Artists In Motion 2020 was canceled. The Arts community saw performance after performance canceled, theaters shut down, and dance companies and studios folding. Alison stayed in touch with all of the choreographers who were accepted into this shared event and promised that when the time was right she would remount the performance. 

The National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) continues its Classical series with three subscription concert programs this April and May, including the D.C. premieres of NSO co-commissioned works by Mason Bates and Joan Tower, and a return to The Anthem venue in the Southwest Waterfront.  California Symphony and Music Director Donato Cabrera present the World Premiere of California Symphony's Young American Composer-in-Residence (2017-2020) Katherine Balch's Illuminate, the centerpiece of a program titled French Impressions. Mezzo-soprano Kelly Guerra and sopranos Molly Netter and Alexandra Smither, who were personally selected by the composer, will perform this new work.

New, innovative art, including dance, grows the desire of generations to continue to create and share their artistic visions. Nevada Ballet Theatre presents Two World Premiere ballets on one fantastic program. Renowned choreographers Trey McIntyre and Lauren Lovette share their groundbreaking works with NBT’s dancers performing their visualization. Audiences will also enjoy a special presentation of selections from choreographer Krista Baker. The program will be performed at the Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts on Feb. 5.
