Joey Arias, vocalist/songwriter/actor/performance artist/host, has been on the scene here since the 1980s. Visually and vocally distinctive, Arias's signature black bangs and ponytail have been on stages such as Club 57, Astor Theater, HERE, and Abrons Art Center--not to mention playing Mistress of Seduction at Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity in Las Vegas.  To say the physically diminutive Arias is larger than life is a comment on her fully inhabited, unique presence and talent. On May 30 (the third of seven show run through late July), she's aided and abetted in Little Black Book (no idea what the title means) by Musical Director (and superb bass player) Ben Allison and guitarist Brandon Seabrook.

A troupe of eight autonomous drones designed by Verity Studios soared onto Broadway as part of a live performance in Cirque du Soleil - PARAMOUR. This is the first time Cirque du Soleil - known for its stunning acrobatics and world-class production design - has specifically created a show for Broadway, and it's the first time autonomous robots have taken center stage there.

Teatro ZinZanni Seattle today announced the cast of headlining talent set to play in the romantic, original production, Hotel L'Amour. Starring the return of the Tony Award-winning living legend Liliane Montevecchi, Hotel L'Amour also features funny man Frank Ferrante, master illusionist Maestro Voronin, aerialist and choreographer to the stars Dreya Weber, and opera diva Kristin Clayton alongside international circus artists Svetlana, aerialist Rui Ling, and juggler Viktor Lee. When the staff at Hotel L'Amour catches wind of the Madame's return, they literally bend over backward to prepare - champagne flows and dreams never die as the Madame reflects on her life and tales of wonder with gorgeous French flare. Complete with a gourmet multi-course feast, wine pairings, and uniquely curated cocktails, guests will never want to check out of Hotel L'Amour! FROZEN LIVE AT THE HYPERION, a new theatrical adaptation based on Disney's animated blockbuster film, opens May 27 at the Hyperion Theater at Disney California Adventure Park in Southern California.

Philadelphia School of Circus Arts (5900A Greene Street) invites children to turn their summer upside-down - literally - during full-day "Summer Circus Camp."  Children five years old and up will train in static trapeze, aerial silks, juggling, plate-spinning, tightwire-walking, clowning and acrobatics.   Activities also include performance classes, co-operative games, and special guest artists.  While balancing, climbing and tumbling, children will build strength and flexibility, learn new skills, and increase their confidence. Full-day camp programs range from a one-week Junior Camp for 5 to 7 year olds, to a two-week Youth Camp for 8 to 14 years old. Two new camps this year include Circus Camp A La Carte for children who need a flexible schedule (pick a day or a week!) and Performance Intensive Camp for advanced students who want to train like the pros right here in Philadelphia!

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF), previously known as The New York Musical Theatre Festival, confirmed the complete slate of programming and venues for NYMF 2016, taking place from July 11 through August 7 in Midtown Manhattan.

Now after more than a year, NEWSIES' North American First National Tour is nearing its conclusion, finally stopping at Orange County's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through May 29 (the musical will motor down to San Diego the following week). After seeing the original Broadway production in NYC and then seeing its Los Angeles debut at the Pantages Theatre last year, experiencing this exuberant, high-energy, smile-inducing crowd-pleaser again here in my own home turf felt like a special gift. NEWSIES is a fun, uplifting night at the theater... and continues to be in subsequent, multiple viewings. With its winning combination of incredibly acrobatic dancing, family-friendly comedy, engaging story, awesome singing, and dazzling showmanship, there is a lot to love with this show---whether you're 5 or 95. Heck, it certainly made a #Fansie out of me.
