According to a casting notice, the Broadway musical MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is being adapted into an 8-episode CMT series centered on rock 'n' roll pioneer Sam Phillips. 

BroadwayWorld has learned that with almost 3,000 performances and now in its eighth year in Chicago, MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, Chicago's longest-running Broadway musical, is set to close on January 17, 2016.

While it is certainly a fact that on December 4, 1956, Sun Records was host to an incredible gathering of talent (Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis), a listen to the actual recordings made that day were more along the lines of favorite folk and gospel numbers that the four shared in common.
